"Superb reception staff. Welcoming and helpful, answering our questions and giving advice on how to get around the city and to the Coop Live Arena. Breakfast very good with lots of variety but lots of people waiting. This was rectified by a senior member of staff who directed the staff to clear tables and set up quicker. Hopefully this will continue. Rooms were super clean and beds very comfortable resulting in a good night's sleep. Meal on a night good but waiting over 30 mins from ordering and...

"Rooms need decorating, some furnishings tatty. Slept well, quiet. Hotel staff welcoming, good receptoin area and bar. Dining room good. Breakfast good, but could have more fruit options. Good value for money. Would stay again."

"We stayed at The Alan for a night in May to attend a concert in the Coop Arena. The hotel itself was beautiful, very modern and we had lovely big room with all the amenities we needed. However, there was a constant tapping and hissing sound from the exposed ventilation system in the room which is part of the theme of the hotel from what we could tell. "Sufficiently comfortable for a one-night stay but at check in no breakfast options were offered. Fortunately I had a cereal bar with me for the morning. Hotel decor is beautifully colourful. Coffee machines by the lifts were a welcome surprise. "

"The staff we met were all lovely, in particular Abbie on the desk who checked us in and when she saw us asked about our day which was so nice. The hotel was smaller than described and I think Malmaison need to look at the space for the toilet as you can barely close the door as it’s such a small space! No issues with the breakfast or selection of cold food. We had a lovely full English and it was excellent. "
