Great location, especially for starting the Shimanami Kaido bike ride.

Fukuyama city is a hidden jewel. Most of the bullet trains stop here and the access to major places, including Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Yokohama, Tokyo, and Fukuoka is a direct line. If you want to visit Tomonoura where major movies scenes were taken, including Studio Ghibli and The Wolverine, I highly recommend Fukuyama.

Just the most incredible experience we've ever had in a hotel. So much more that just a hotel, it's a whole Japanese luxury experience. Every member of staff was just incredible - friendly, efficient and really made the experience from the moment we stepped off the dock on the island because they met us there. We absolutely loved this place. It was by far our favorite stay during our 10 days in Japan. Definitely recommend spending extra on the dinner, it was amazing.

We stayed one night prior to beginning our bike ride. The hotel is across the street from from the Onomichi train station. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The award-winning vegan restaurant (with some non-vegan items also offered) is some of the best, reason alone to consider the stay. Proximity to the station with city and park views available is another for those travelling by JR or highway bus. The staff were excellent, the rooms and amenities are fine. A beautiful room in a beautiful hotel. So very close to the JR line station (200 meters door to door), easy access to the rest of Japan via the Shinkansen Trains, a great hub for exploring Western/Southern Japan. Only 30 minuets to Hiroshima, 2 hours to Osaka, and under 5 hours to Tokyo.

Very nice hotel in Fukuyama. We stayed here during our visit to the city. The rooms and room amenities are a bit basic but the property was very clean, staff was friendly and the public baths on the top floor were amazing.

I have been attracting by Setouchi Shimanami Kaito bike touring for a long time through Taiwanese cycling enthusiasts. At age 75, my wife thinks I am crazy. I booked two nights at Suminoe for 6/17 and 18. The spacious room with ocean view and bidet toilet are very impressive. Miss Wang who is in charge, is very intelligent.
