"3rd time stopping here, nice clean rooms, great bar, superb home cooked foods, awesome breakfast which was allowed to be pre orderd for 7 30 which is always a bonus when u have a busy day. Will stay again."

"Matfen Hall really is outstanding, my stay was faultless. All staff were so warm, welcoming and helpful- I was greeted upon arrival with a welcome drink and my bags were taken up to my room whilst I checked in and relaxed in the Great Hall. Every nook and cranny of this hotel is gorgeous, beautifully crafted and fabulously furnished, including the room I was allocated. It was a generous size bedroom and dressing area with a huge bathroom, stunning views and light and airy in the daytime but warm and cozy at night. I ate in The Cloisters and The Keepers during my stay, both offering tasty treats and excellent service. I used the spa facilities and loved the comfy robe and slippers. The thermal suites were a welcome break from the wild weather and I nearly fell asleep on the lounge chairs it was so peaceful. I can not wait to come back again soon and explore the hotel further, and enjoy all it has to offer, when I have more free time!"

"We were walking the Reivers Way. We had a great welcome. The room was excellent, very spacious, clean and comfortable with a bath, just what was needed after a days walk. The restaurant food was excellent and good value. Unfortunately my wife said her hip was hurting. The following morning my wife hip was still hurting so we decided to discontinue our walk and to travel home. Unfortunately because of a road closure the bus from Wark to Hexham wasn’t running. The receptionist, contacted her father who very kindly gave us a lift to The station. For which I gave him some money which was to be donated to the hotels charity ‘Water aid’. A fantastic service by a great hotel. We will return again to continue our walk once my wife is feeling better."

"This was an adorable, historic inn in a tiny town near Hadrians Wall. We ate dinner and breakfast at the pub downstairs. The food was good with vegetarian and vegan options. It was so quiet. We slept with the windows open and I heard only one car the emote stay. "
