The village of Longhoughton is a pretty, coastal village, just over a mile from the hidden bay at Sugar Sands – an idyllic beach with views across to Dunstanburgh Castle, sited mid-way on the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Heritage coastline designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. Within the village there is a Co-op store for your provisions. You are well catered for with a popular coffee shop Company B, which is just opposite; amble across for a tasty breakfast, lunch, wonderful home-made cakes or Sunday lunch. In the opposite direction the Running Fox café is dog friendly and has a lovely space both inside and out, serving a wonderful selection of food.
Longhoughton is just 4 miles east of the historic market town of Alnwick with a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops, a variety of pubs and eateries. Famous for its part in Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, Alnwick Castle is a popular visitor attraction and a short stroll from the town centre. A visit to Alnwick Gardens is a must with its formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and ’poison’ garden. A great day out for all the family and you can dine in the largest tree house restaurant in Europe. Our first visit to Northumberland.
Our first visit to Northumberland. Fantastic. Cottage is comfy, cosy and well placed for many attractions and beaches. Our hosts were delightful and so helpful re locality. We would absolutely recommend and plan to go back.

We loved our stay at Breezes Cottage and we are considering booking next year.
We loved our stay at Breezes Cottage and we are considering booking next year. The location is great: close to the coast, close to Alnwick and there’s a convenient Co-Op about 200m away. The beach is easy to walk to or a short drive away. It’s nice having the cottage owners next door to ask advice from.
