Lovely, recently renovated apartment in 19th century villa, one of the five most beautiful streets of Amsterdam.
Great canalview, peaceful and quiet ... yet walking distance/around the corner from restaurants, bars, market, coffee shops, shops, the zoo and museums.

The location is very unique; according to "'undiscovered Amsterdam" it is one of the five most beautiful streets.
Situated in the east of the center of Amsterdam; 10 minutes bicycling or tram from Dam square. Bicycle rent just around the corner. Car parking nearby. Tram around the corner. Very close to the center, yet still the real Amsterdam ...
Very suitable for a longer stay or a trip with family or friends, or just a short visit.

The apartment is on the top floor of the villa (2 stairs up) and has a really magnificant view on the canal.
It consists of two rooms that can be paid individually or together.
Both rooms are nicely decorated and have two separate luxurious beds; each room with a bathroom and toilet.
The apartment has access to a fully equipped kitchen (stove, cooker, dryer, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine).

Lovely quiet canal house

Very clean and comfortable, close to tram, grocery, shops, park. Very friendly host. Stairs to rooms on top level are steep and a bit difficult with large bags but the host helped us so no problem.

Fantastic property in a great location

My daughter is attending college in Amsterdam and we were there as a family to set up her dorm and do some sightseeing. Wessel is very attentive and a great help when we had questions. We loved the house and the neighborhood. Close to so many shops and good restaurants. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Wonderful Owner, Wonderful Property

Wessel & family were wonderful hosts! They even brought our two larger suitcases up & down the stairs for us! We spent 4 nights at their property. It was a great location for using public transit. We were able to easily get to all the places we wished to visit. We highly recommend their property.

Great place

Our host met us and gave us a tour. He was very accommodating and helpful. Carried our luggage up the stairs. Place was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The windows covered one wall and had a great view. The kitchen even had a few things stocked for us. Overall, they were very thoughtful and made our stay nice. The two separate bedrooms, with each their own bathroom, made it very pleasant. One thing to note is that there is no elevator and it is two steep flights of stairs up so if you have mobility issues, this would be Difficult however we were fine.

Perfect for our Needs

Property is a typical Amsterdam townhouse with narrow steep steps. However, once you are settled in your space it is a wonderful apartment. The owner's daughter received us and even helped with carrying our luggage up the steps. We all observed how easy it was for her and we were impressed! The apartment is lovely and the owners' stocked the kitchen with eggs and other items including Heinekens. The location is close to public transportation and many restaurants. We loved our stay in this property and the steps were not a problem for us but should be kept in mind if you have oversized luggage or mobility issues.

Great location for a nice apartment

We did not want to stay in central Amsterdam but close enough that we would not have to spend too much time on the tram and this location did not disappoint! We appreciated the kitchen and laundry, both had what we needed. Lovely owner which makes staying more comfortable. Thank you

The Perfect Place to Stay for 4

We had a lovely time staying at Wessel's place! The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and Wessel was very kind and helpful. He walked us through everything we needed to know and provided many necessities in their bathrooms and kitchen. Their are very steep stairs in the home and Wessel's family kindly brought up all of our large bags for us. Our only complaint is that the twin beds slid around quite a bit, but were comfortable nonetheless! We would certainly stay again.

Our first time visiting Amsterdam!

I had booked this property with two of my friends as we wanted a two bedroom and two bathroom. The home was very cozy, clean and welcoming. We were also close by to a grocery store, restaurants, shopping and various transportation. Our host was very friendly and checked in on us throughout to ensure our needs were met. Great Locale on a Canal

Arrived late in the afternoon, the host and her family lives on the first floor and she met us and took us on a tour of the 3rd floor apartment. She walked us through the security system, the appliances and provided a binder of directions, transit info, restaurants and places to visit. Wonderful, accommodating and great location for outside the the central part of Amsterdam.

Perfect spot for our vacation

The apartment is wonderful! So nice to have a 2bed/2bath with a well stocked kitchen on a quiet, lovely canal street. There were some eggs, butter, soda & beer in the little fridge along with some condiments which was so kind of Wessel. Also, coffee, tea & some spices were also provided. There was even laundry soap for the washer! It would've been nice to have some paper towels though. There are restaurants & shops so close to the apartment, within a 2-4 minute walk. We did walk to a couple of museums & dam sqaure, it was between 2-3 miles, but taking the tram was easy enough as well & close by. The only thing I would suggest is to place a curtain on the window above the door to the front bedroom (canal side). There were a couple nights when someone left the staircase light on overnight & it shines right through the window by the apartment entry door & right into the front bedroom window above that door. I would definitely stay at Wessel & Helene's apartment again!!

Fabulous fortnight on the Transvaalkade

Our recent stay on the top floor of a home on the Transvaalkade was perfect. The host, Wessel, has set up a perfect, light-filled apartment with a glorious view over the canal which worked exceptionally well for my husband and I and our adult daughter. The two separate bathrooms, small but well laid out, were very convenient. The kitchen was well equipped and we were very grateful to have facilities to wash and dry our clothes. The beds were comfortable. The neighbourhood was delightful, we especially enjoyed the cafe on the other side of the canal for our evening drinks and also the large range of supermarkets nearby for us to purchase our supplies. Public transport worked brilliantly for all of our day trips including to the Kroller Moller near Apeldoorn, Haarlem and, of course, regular trips into Amsterdam Central, just a few minutes tram ride away. Wessel was kind and helpful and we greatly appreciated that he stayed up late to greet us and talk us through the apartment when we arrived. We hope to return in the near future, this time with our boys.

Nice quiet location on the canal

Property was clean and well appointed. There were 2 adults and we booked for 3 so we could have the whole apartment to ourselves and each with our own room. Small kitchen served us well for breakfasts and snacks. Bathrooms were stocked with soaps, shampoo, etc. Some reviewers have advised about the 2 steep staircase stairs. These were a bit curvy so the steps were not rectangles, but narrower at the curved part and wider (still shallow) at the outside wall. A handrail is installed on the wall side. A bit challenging for 75 yr old people nonetheless. The owner's daughter graciously and quickly handled moving our luggage up and down the stairs so we did not have to deal with that challenge. Beautiful views from both bedroom windows, one of the canal and one overlooking the gardens of all the homes. Restaurants, grocery, and a wine store just a short walk as well as the tram stop. Quiet location overlooking the canal made for restful nights.

What an amazing stay we had in Amsterdam. The apartment was incredibly convenient to the tram stop, to restaurants and cafes, to an incredible gym and to the wonderful Oosterpark. We got used to the twisty steep stairs in no time. Once inside, the apartment had everything we needed for our 8-day stay. We enjoyed a couple of evenings in over dinner. Thanks Wessel for your awesome hospitality!!

Lovely stay in Amsterdam

Apartment with two large en suite bedrooms, and a small, well equipped kitchen with a washer and dryer! Beware the very steep, long stairs (typical of Amsterdam) – Wessel's son was kind enough to help us get our luggage up them. Host was super friendly and accommodating, great communication and suggestions. Convenient, safe location with easy access to trams, and lots of places for food and shopping nearby. Definitely recommend!

Great location! Quiet and very comfortable apartment. The host was super helpful and friendly. Note that street parking is not an option as it is very expensive. But there is a nice garage close by for a little over 20 a day that is safe and secure.

Great Place to Explore Amsterdam

Cute and comfortable home base for exploring Amsterdam. Everything we needed was close by: market, train stop, nice restaurants. The apartment was really well located. We were able to take the train into all parts of the city and then easily return for the evening in a quiet and picturesque part of town. The apartment has nice windows for both bedrooms, with one overlooking the canal. The kitchen was nicely appointed and had a washer/dryer, which was helpful. There is a small couch and dining table, but they are located in the front bedroom, which still worked for us. The stairs to the apartment are very steep (as seems to be the case in these Amsterdam buildings) but Wessel sent his lovely son and daughter to help us with our luggage up and down the stairs. Wessel was super responsive to all my questions and took great care of us. I would stay here again!!!

Geheimtipp - Super Wohnung in ruhiger Gegend!

Wir waren vier Tage in Amsterdam und können sowohl die Unterkunft als auch die Gastgeber nur wärmstens empfehlen. Wessel und Hélenè sind unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Wohnung war sehr sauber und hervorragend ausgestattet. Im Kühlschrank standen bereits Getränke, Eier und weitere Kleinigkeiten für uns bereit – sogar Kaffeepulver war vorhanden, ebenso wie alle notwendigen Geräte wie Wasserkocher und Kaffeemaschine.Die Gegend, direkt an einem Kanal gelegen, ist sehr ruhig und wunderschön. Wir hatten Fahrräder gemietet und waren damit in etwa 15 Minuten im Stadtzentrum von Amsterdam.Ein herzliches Dankeschön an Wessel und Hélenè – es war ein rundum gelungener Aufenthalt!Liebe Grüße,Thomas und Familie

Friends Traveling Across the Pond!!
