The location was very convenient. The self check in and out process was super easy. But for a property this expensive, the room was very small and there was no reception or staff around. Not worth the cost in my opinion.

Got 3 rooms. No front desk but they leave keys for you. Good clean rooms and right off the strip. Good communication. Would stay again. Quiet and could not hear our neighbors

Small but comfortable

Entire check-in process was performed by remote-control, with email & SMS instructions, but was pretty seamless nevertheless. Motel rooms are up 2 x flights of stairs, so not the easiest with bags to carry. Room was very small, but extremely well appointed & comfy - despite the small size, everything was well laid-out with modern appliances and modern (ensuite-size) bathroom.

Leaves a lot to be desired.

After we found reception it was good to find a clean and tidy room. Check in was just a key in an envelope. The hot water had a wait time of 5 - 10 minutes not very eco friendly? The ironing board was only useable in a dolls house. TV reception was awful and there was no microwave in the room.

This is a convenient and well-appointed place to stop along the Great Ocean Road. It's a short, easy walk to restaurants, shops, and the beach. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well stocked with supplies that many other hotels skimp on these days, such as a toaster, dishes, tea and coffee, and individual shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in biodegradable packaging. On the downside, the carpet seemed a bit damp all over, as if it had been shampooed and was not quite dry yet. There was also a smell of fish cooking from a Chinese restaurant in the same building. But these were not major hardships. It is a bit of a strange building for a motel because there is no entrance off the main street and no reception office on site. You enter from the back parking lot and pick up a key in an envelope with your name written on. I can't rate the staff or service highly because there was no one there to rate. That said, we had no problem with check in, and we appreciated being able to arrive any time we wanted rather than having to be there by 5:00 or 6:00. International travelers can use WhatsApp to receive notifications and contact staff if needed at this property. It is by no means luxury accommodations, but it's a decent, affordable place to stay on a road trip.

Blue Ocean Motel – Don’t Judge a Book by Its... Exterior Paint Job Okay, real talk: when we first pulled into the Blue Ocean Motel, I had a full-blown “oh no, what have I done?” moment. From the outside, it looked like it might star in a retro horror film called Motel Misery. BUT—big but here—the moment we stepped inside, all our fears vanished faster than free Wi-Fi on a family road trip. The rooms? Spotless. Clean, comfy beds that didn’t feel like they were borrowed from a 1980s hospital ward. The bathrooms had clearly been updated a few years ago and were sparkling, well-stocked, and honestly better than a lot of big-name hotels we’ve stayed at. Housekeeping? Absolute legends. Friendly, cheerful, and definitely doing a great job. We saw a previous review bizarrely commenting on someone's race—seriously? If you're rating people based on their ethnicity instead of service, maybe you're the problem. Just saying. Check-in and check-out were smoother than a coastal breeze—grabbed our keys from the holder and dropped them in the box on the way out. No fuss, no queues, no awkward small talk. Each room had the usual tea, coffee, and creamer setup (though we didn’t use it, because we were too busy running around town and stuffing our faces). We had two rooms for our group, and everyone was pleasantly surprised—yes, even the picky one. And the location? Prime.
