"The hotel is situated a short walk to the town centre, and there’s plenty of food and drink nearby. Parking is cramped for the larger car, I’m glad my discovery suspension could be lowered but got in well enough, the room I had was huge, I’d booked to stop over with my grandson to go to an air show (cancelled) so travelled on my own, but the room would have been great for a family to stay in as it had a self contained kitchenette, no problems with facilities or cleanliness, staff were polite and efficient, I didn’t use the breakfast facilities"

"WOW what a fabulous hotel! We had a lovely welcome at reception, our room was bigger than expected for a 'cosy' room. It was lovely and clean and although there was no aircon a substantial fan had been provided. The bed was very comfy. Bathroom was spacious, fluffy towels and toiletries which smelled gorgeous. We had supper and drinks on the terrace but I sent mine back as the chicken was very dry, there was no problem and when a fresh meal was served it was delicious. Breakfast was the usual buffet of cereals, pastries or cooked options. It wasn't the best, bacon was hard, eggs didn't have a runny yolk, mushrooms weren't fresh. For an extra charge there were a few other options but no poached eggs or omelette. The staff were very helpful and happy to do so. All in all a lovely stay wish I could have stayed longer so we could enjoy the beautiful garden walks."

"Super impressed with this hotel! Wasn’t expecting much given its location but it’s been beautifully designed and feels like a mini resort with spa, bar and lovely restaurant with an outside area. The only downside was the charge to use the pool which was not pointed out until after booking."

"The public areas show off the heritage of this very old house to great effect. We loved the breakfast - both staff & food were outstanding. The extensive grounds contain the Golf courses, but even with magnificent trees and the lake, there is no escape from Golf. The only significant disappointment was Wifi coverage in the Mathern annexe. I spent far too much quality time back & forth to reception to no avail. Management seem to be addressing the issue, so fingers crossed for future guests. Our room in Mathern was a little tired, so could benefit from a refurb. It was acceptable, however, but I expected a little better for the price. A pleasant stay overall, badly let down by Wifi issues."

"Comfortable beds, nice decor, air conditioning was great with all the hot weather. Shower was nice, staff lovely! Only gripe was a dog barking from 7 in the morning when we wanted a little lie in but that's not in the hotels control if guests dogs are barking. Only mention it as it's worth considering if you book into a pet friendly hotel there is a small chance of noise disturbance"
