Perfect Family Getaway
We were fortunate to spend five wonderful nights at Zoofari. It was paradise for my three grandsons and an enjoyable and relaxing getaway for the adults. The house itself is very spacious and comfortable and the yard is a dream. The yard is large and fully fenced which is perfect for dogs and kids. There is a great play structure and a trampoline and even a two hundred pound tortoise living in a corner of the yard. The pool and hot tub area looks so inviting I’d love to return in the summer. There are five adorable miniature horses in a corral in front of the house that guests can feed and pet anytime. Then Laurie gives a tour of the more exotic animals in the back of the property including a camel, zebra, water buffalo, ostriches, emus and various donkey hybrids. They all are friendly and docile and Laurie provides carrots to feed them. Paradise for animal lovers! My grandsons also loved playing with the three friendly cats on the property. Laurie was wonderful to work with. She left carrots in the fridge for feeding the animals and lots of treats for us humans as well. We had a problem with one of the beds on New Years Eve and Pedro came promptly after our call on New Years morning to fix it. The location is also a bonus. There are several great beaches within an easy drive, wine tasting, Hearst Castle and the elephant seals near San Simeon. In short, you can’t go wrong spending time with your family at Zoofari!

Fantastic retreat
This place is fabulous. House was perfect for our age ranges (12-81!) and had plenty of space indoors and out to roam around. We even went for a neighborhood walk - very safe with friendly neighbors. The animal sanctuary is amazing. Laurie gave us a personal tour and my daughter is ready to start her own mini-horse rescue. This is a one-of-a-kind stay. Make sure you plan a day to just chill at the house if you plan a multi-day trip - it’s a destination in itself!

This place is special!
What an incredible trip. We went with two families with kids ranging from 7-14 years old. When we arrived our host Laurie had left cookies and candy for the kids - we felt welcome right away. The house is much nicer than expected - very clean and a beautiful layout. Great living room, play room and backyard. The house is located in a fairly rural community that is quiet, peaceful and beautiful but close to town. These factors alone would make this a 5 star experience, but it was so much better than just a nice place to stay. Laurie has an animal rescue with mini horses, zebras, a camel, water buffalo, pigs, goats, ostriches and so many other animals. Laurie showed us around and it was nothing short of amazing. Think of all of these animals rescued for one reason or another living together, peacefully and loving the attention of humans. We spent time with all of these animals and they were loving and gentle in a way that reflects the loving environment that they are in. Laurie told us we could come back and see the animals as we wanted and gave us keys to go in with the mini horses at the front of the property. We spent hours with these animals right in our own backyard. This place, and the woman who runs it are special. If you are thinking of staying...do so...you wont regret it!
