The Ocean City Bungalow

Brand new, mid-century modern flat just four blocks from the beach and boardwalk and steps from Ocean City's downtown Asbury Avenue.

This naturally lit home has a fully-equipped kitchen with new appliances, a spacious dining area, and a bathroom stocked with toiletries and towels. The bedroom features a queen-sized bed with a luxury Casper mattress and comfortable workspace overlooking downtown Ocean City. Sunlight streams into the apartment's many windows, a constant reminder that the ocean is only a few steps away.

In the kitchen, we provide a traditional coffee maker, electronic tea kettle, toaster, electric oven with a conventional stovetop, sink with pull down hose nozzle, and a dishwasher. All tableware, utensils, dish soap and hand soap are supplied for guest use.

Just a few steps outside of the Bungalow, guests can find themselves directly across the street from Starbucks, the Sunset Café, Benny's Bread Bakery, and a short stroll to the countless other downtown shops and eateries that Ocean City has to offer.

It was so bad I had to report it to the department of health and city building code enforcement. The property was full of and growing mold, and the host was completely unable to be reached by myself and vrbo support. The host’s listed name is not the name listed on the deed of building. The actual owner of the property has other rental properties in OCNJ and has had multiple run ins with city code enforcement for them.

Ghosted

Do not book! Do not stay! The host will not reply to you unless you’re asking positive questions. I had an issue with the reservation before we stayed and was given 2 contact numbers for the host by Vrbo and the host failed to reply to me. I found a way around the issue luckily without talking to her so we proceeded with our trip. We arrived to the property and I messaged her to make sure we were at the correct door because the code failed to work multiple times and she did reply. It turned out that the door was never locked so the code just kept blinking red. Upon entry to the property we were hit with the most awful smell i’ve ever experienced. It was a mix of mold, soiled food, and something that died. My fiance has horrible asthma and was having trouble breathing so we tried to reach out the host to see what could be done about the issue. Again no reply. We decided to not even unpack and go find somewhere else to stay due to how terrible the smell was. I sent the host another message 12 hours later again explaining the issue and to no surprise she didn’t answer again. We have had vrbo support try to get in contact with her multiple times and they also can not reach her. All this woman wants is your money. She has no interest in resolving any issues. The place itself is very very small but we expected it. The pictures in the listing are mostly accurate. The bed frame is entirely different than the pictures and the walls are covered in marks from wear and tear.

Very Good for the Price

For the most part, we had a good stay at this property. Free Parking was easy to find and accessible, and the property was only 0.3 miles away from the boardwalk, which is where we spent most of our time. It was clean for the most part, including in the more important areas (i.e. bed was clean, etc.). The kitchen sink was clogged from presumably the previous renters, but we just used the bathroom sink instead. We did run out of the provided toilet paper and had to buy more, as well as had to use hand soap from the large refill bottle rather than from a small bottle, which we also presumed was accidentally thrown out. We were also unable to run the dishwasher per the host’s request due to there being no more dishwasher pods. But all of this that I’ve said so far didn’t affect our stay too much. The only real issue we ran into was that the keypad on the door stopped working and we were unable to lock the door for most of the trip. I contacted the host and she got back to me quickly, but since we didn’t have any valuables in the property and the property is very out of the way/goes unnoticed by people passing by, it wasn’t too much of a concern. I disagree with the reviews that claim this place advertised as larger than it is, because I think the photos well capture what the property looks like. I don’t think it’s too small for 2 people and unless you’re going to be holed up in the property for the duration of your stay, it’s a great stay for people looking to explore.

The property was clean, the location was great, parking was not an issue, and everything worked as it should. It's on the smaller side, but it's perfect for 1-2 people. I really enjoyed my stay!

53rd Birthday Celebration

I enjoyed my stay. The location was perfect, just a few blocks from the beach AND on Asbury Avenue so tons of great shopping and restaurants. The apartment was clean, the bed was super comfortable - only thing the place could use is a small couch. Definitely would stay here again.

The property has an awesome location. Few walkable blocks from beach/boardwalk. On the corner of the main street with all the stores, and starbucks across the street. Very happy we didnt have to drive to experience the town. The headboard was made of wooden rails that weren't connected, so any slight movement they all clattered along the wall. The tv only buffered and on Thanksgiving night, my husband only wanted to watch the game. Tv couldnt get news, weather, nothing, buffered every 10 seconds. My husband would not stay here again for these 2 reasons. I would find another place near the main street. If your renting your place, it needs to be ready, if i were in a hotel, i wouldve got a room change.

Smaller than it appears

The unit is clean and tidy, but extremely small for the price during the off season. Might be okay for one person, but very cramped for two people if you plan to spend any time there at all. Mattress is fine but the bed frame was broken. Internet connection was very poor and spotty, I had to upgrade our cellular hot spot plan to check email, browse internet, and stream tv. Costs more than a hotel room but is smaller and less comfortable.
