La Casita was a relaxing get away for our weekend attending the Lonestar Roundup. La Casita was comfortable, clean, and easy to find. Not too far from all the happenings in Austin, and quiet enough to feel like you’re out of the City for rest.

This was a small but very efficient house to stay. It was perfect for my weekend and very comfortable. I slept well and the bed was very comfortable. The train was noisy and shook the house but there was a fan in the closet and it drowned out the noise so I was able to sleep well. I felt safe at the property and would definitely stay again. Thank you!
I enjoyed the secluded cozy nook created by the host. The place was easy to access, clean, and welcoming. The layout of the little house allows to compartmentalize work, food, and sleep. It has a street car railway right by which may be problematic early in the morning. Thank you for hosting me.
We chose La Casita on 7th because it was near my son’s home on the East side. The location turned out to be beneficial for many reasons including its proximity to restaurants and Austin sites. There are two rentals inclosed by a fence . Ours was in the back and included everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom has a door that can offer some privacy if someone sleeps on the futon. There are two TVs. There is a food truck on the property with the most amazing and friendly owners well as food and coffee . Cross over the tracks to walk your dog in the cute neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Needs new smart locks
The location was great, close to bike rentals and food. But the 1st night for us didn't go great. We had gotten checked in just fine, dropped our stuff off and then left to hang with our sister. Little did I know the electronic lock on the Casita didn't work with either of our keys or code given during check-in and none of the Info mentioned that we shouldn't lock that deadbolt. Called and messaged the owner but he was on a flight at the time. Called VRBO and they didn't have the code so we had to walk to a hotel and stay there a night. We were able to have it comped but the experience was still not a great way to start a trip. I would leave a higher rating otherwise. Please get new electronic locks.and make sure VRBO has a back up code or give another emergency contact.
The owner was very responsive and friendly. It was our own fault for not getting the gate code before we left, as we don't have a cell phone. However, once we got the gate code we still couldn't get in and were only able to access it through the neighbor's gate. The lodging is very nicely decorated in a great vibe! It was also very comfortable and clean. The train mentioned in earlier reviews was very close and loud. I managed to sleep through it but it woke my husband several times. Also there was heavy construction next to it that started at 6 am and went through 6 pm. I don't know what they are building but it was very loud. It's not in the host's control but it was extremely jarring. We came to Austin because our old dog was visiting a heart specialist, and we always like to support hosts with funky and artsy accommodations. Also, I spent my young adulthood in East Austin. I know it's been somewhat gentrified in the last 30 years, however there was still a panhandler knocking on our car window in the lodging's parking space as we were leaving.I think this lodging would be perfect for the younger set or heavy sleepers. Unfortunately it did not provide us with the relaxation we needed.

Would have given a 5 star review. But it was extremely hot inside when we arrived and would have been nice if the AC was on well before our arrival. It took until the next day for the cool off inside. Plus my wife opened the microwave oven and there was a coffee cup with the contents being rotten that casted a horrible smell throughout the place until the time we left.
The air conditioning, needs some maintenance It sounds like someone is trying to breaking in. It’s very noisy, and wakes you up. Plus side, it’s convenient to 6th street.
La Casita is a charming cottage in a quiet part of Austin but within walking distance of 6th St. it was well air conditioned which was definitely needed on a very hot weekend. The aforementioned trains did not bother me.
AC was not running when we got there, 90 inside. Ductless AC unit was blowing warm air even after we let it run awhile and the placed smelled of mold.We had to leave and get a hotel room. Contacted the owner and he apologized an said he would refund our money. I have not seen a refund and he has ghosted me.
Overall, I was extremely happy with my stay here. The place is small but cozy and with a very nice vibe and personality. The location is great for getting around (I didn't have a car) by bus and bike share. Communication with the host was great and, when I misplaced the keys, they helped out very quickly, which I greatly appreciated. The only drawback, and this will clearly not be a problem forever, is that there is a large building being built right next door and the construction (literally banging and hammering about 50 feet from my bed as well as loud machinery including a crane) started at 7am. It wasn't the most pleasant alarm clock! That said, once the construction is finished I would happily stay at La Casita again.
This rental is in a convenient location for going around Austin and it's near some great restaurants and bars. The AC works well, especially if you shut the bedroom door. There is a small outside space which is nice if you're traveling with a dog.Unfortunately a train track is right next door and it's quite loud when a train goes by, sometimes even shaking the house depending on what kind of train it is. The bathroom is odd. The shower and sink are in a separate room from the toilet (not shown in the listing's photos). There is a weird smell coming from the bathroom, maybe it's the water? The floor is uneven. The shower has very poor water pressure and it's difficult to adjust the water temperature without it either being very cold or very hot. There is construction next door which wasn't terribly loud but not great either.Overall the stay was fine, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to a friend.
