  • This large two story Avalon home, offers 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, located at the upper end of Descanso Street. The living room and dining room areas feature hard wood floors installed in Spring 2016. The master bedroom offers a king size bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed, the third bedroom has a king bed and the fourth bedroom has 2 singles beds and a daybed with trundle. This property has an open floor plan in the living space with a 46-inch flat panel TV/VCR/2 DVD players, stereo, CD player, fully equipped & modern kitchen - plenty of elbow space. The front stoop, a Weber barbecue, and many other extras make this house a find for a large group or extended family. No smoking allowed, please. 358D | IMPORTANT:Fireplace is not available for use. | | This vacation home rents on a nightly basis (2 night minimum, holidays and selected dates excepted; 3 night minimum mid-June through Labor Day). QUIET HOURS: 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (use of outdoor areas strictly prohibited). ***There is construction going nearby that will affect the access to the patio during the month of April and May 2025. There will still be access to use the BBQ.

Excellent location

This location was perfect- everything within walking distance ( beach, shops, restaurants, church, playgrounds, grocery store, ferry). If we called with an issue or question the property management staff arrived within literal minutes. Large property, perfect for families.

Great Place

Great location. Clean. Nice house. Lots of games and kitchen items. Only issue was the “you only get two rolls of toilet paper for four night stay for four people. “Other than that, it was wonderful. Catalina is also a nice small place to stay.

The house was clean. There were enough towels for use in the bathroom. The kitchen is spacious and had plenty of pans, silverware, and other utensils. A very charming place with a nice location in the town.

Great Family-Friendly Vacation Home

We came to Catalina with our family—8 grown ups, a kid and an infant. The house is very roomy, so that everyone felt comfortable. We were able to cook comfortably together, and spread out to play games. It really fit what we wanted and needed from a vacation house. We would definitely stay here again!

Good Location

Overall stay was nice. Only two bathrooms but both had showers. Downstairs was wide open, good for gathering. Bring your own toilet paper and paper towels!

Cats Salty Crew

We were a group of 10 women ranging in age from 52-82 and managed to make it work well for us, even with only 2 bathrooms. The neighborhood was great, easy walking distance to everything. Plenty of space to relax in kitchen and living room. If you love Mermaids this is the place for you!

Great beach house!

Great house for a large group. We had a group of ten and there was plenty of space for us all. The kitchen is spacious if you want to do any cooking. The house is located close to the beach and shops. Listing and photos were accurate. Check in process was easy. Would recommend!

Adorable, large home in a great location. Kitchen was well-supplied (sufficient pots and pans, etc.). Nice layout. But most importantly, the management company was great. They communicate both by phone and text and were very responsive. Contactless entry (key is in a lockbox) and they allowed us early check-in and late check-out. Would stay again!

I hope all is well! My family and I would like to thank you for the beautiful welcome and hospitality here at Mermaid 358, Descanso Ave. For some of my family members it was their first time and they love it. They like everything from the pier,stores, and specially the house. The pier was a beautiful night outing for the family, the stores had amazing souvenirs to shop to take to our love ones, and the house was just perfect for the number of people in my family. The house had all kitchen supplies, the house was warm, and we just felt very confortable and at home because we had everything we need it. Thank you

loved the house plenty of room to stretch out on the other hand trash cans were full dishwasher was broke no sponges to do dishes until we had asked for them couldn't get the tv to work after following the directions that were left very noisy outside because it is the golf cart thoroughfare

Great getaway for a group on Catalina island

This property provided ample space and a fabulous location for our group to visit Catalina for the weekend. The house is cute and has everything you’d need. We were able to check in early simply using the lock box which was perfect and very much appreciated. Communication with the front desk has been difficult as their response time, if they respond at all, is lacking. We were there during Hurricane Hilary and I asked about availability to stay there for an extra night on Friday and never heard back from them. Luckily we were able to catch our ferry out on Sunday so it wasn’t an issue. I’d recommend this house to a larger group who is looking for an island getaway!

Review

The house was perfect for our group. There were plenty of beds, towels and blankets. Our only issues were the central heating did not work and we were not warned. Communication was not easy. Finally, after the first cold night we learned to turn on the space heaters and it was fine. A nice maintenance man came and told us it couldn't be fixed. Also, the TV did not work and took a lot of effort. We should have brought our Apple TV!

Wonderful location and set up for a large group!!

First time to Catalina, and a large group of us of 10 for a family/friends vacation for 3 days. The property is superbly located within walking distance to the center, with a grocery store near by too. The noise factor of golf carts that others spoke of, was not an issue for us at all. We got a slightly earlier check in which was super helpful with great communication and a late check out. The kitchen was amazing with all provided and newer and spacious for gathering and meal prep one night for all of us. Games provided, and had a cozy vibe with plenty of seating, tables and chairs for everyone to space out. But, a few things was not crazy about. The bedding in a few rooms was not appearing sanitary. Other persons black hair on one bed, a blood stain on another in the day bed downstairs, that was quite frankly very unsettling. No changes of sheets were provided. We ended up working around that. The toiletries for the number of people booked very under provided. I sent commujcation on this, with no response. One bar of soap for downstairs bathroom for sink and shower and one tiny gel for upstairs bathroom sink and shower. For 10 people, more should have been provided or LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE of the what provisions we need to bring please. We would have loved a golf cart for the house. Just saying... Thanks so much!

House was clean, great location, but central heat was broken

The house was clean and had plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 kids. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, cups, plates, utensils, etc. Our visit was over Thanksgiving and it was pretty cold when we arrived at the home. It turns out the central heat was not working. Maintenance came a few times to try to fix it but ended up bringing 3 portable radiators and lots of space heaters to resolve the issue since electricians/HVAC are hard to come by at the island. The space heaters draw a lot of power and the house wiring was strange so we ended up tripping fuses. Maintenance had to come by and reset the fuse twice. It took a while for us and the maintenance folks to figure which outlets were ok to use with the house wiring. After that learning curve, we had no issues with the house. It was a bit annoying starting off our trip working with the housing agency and maintenance on heat. Outside of that experience, the house was in a great location and was in a quiet place. There was a charcoal grill with lighter fluid but no coals. We didn't end up using it. The living room TV with equipped with cable which was nice. They also provide board games in the kitchen.

Good spot for family/friends getaway

When our plans changed last minute, we were able to find this property in Avalon. It suited our large group perfectly. The downstairs bedroom was a perfect kid/teen room with several beds and each of the parent/couples had their own room upstairs with a shared bathroom in the hall. As we've been to the island many times and also saw on the reviews, it is important to know that the house sits right on a main road, so there is considerable golf cart & vehicle noise most of the day and into the night. If you're a light sleeper, it wouldn't hurt to bring ear plugs and you'll be fine. It is about 5-7 minute walk to the grocery store & beach. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next trip to Avalon.
