Very convenient, charming home.

The house we stayed in was wonderful. Excellent location. We could walk to everything. Even though it's on a very trafficed street, it wasn't noisy. The property was clean, cared for, and the property managers were available and easy to deal with.

Previous reviews were very helpful. Overall this was a great place to stay, close to town, great location. The washing machine didn't work, neither did the cable. The sliding closet door in the downstairs bedroom is broken and could be dangerous for young kids. Super cute spot but could use a little TLC/deep clean, and also not perfect for very tall people. We had a great time though, it was perfect for my 82 year old mom and my 18 year old son...location was a big sell.

We Just stayed for three nights. Flooring is very uneven throughout the home - I worry about the safety of the foundation of this house. Lots of noise outside on the street with golf carts coming and going at all hours. I prefer something quieter.

We loved our family stay in this home. Great time away before our Senior graduates. Close to town, beach, and shops. Description just like listed. Our only problem was the washing machine wasn't working (we usually like to do laundry on our vacations) but other than that no issues at all.

This house was ok. For the price we were expecting a little more. We have stayed at many hotels and str’sThe kitchen was ok but expected to have some way to store leftovers, wrap or rubber ware, coffee was not supplied. It really was the little things that added up. The bikes had flat tires, one portable heater didn’t work (house is cold so it is needed)and the blinds on front door need replacing. The office staff were very friendly and even offered us to be able to stay a little later. The location was perfect for our needs. The place just needs a littleold.

Having to produce ID the night before seemed wrong. Show the debit card and driver's lic. picture after paying directly in full 3 weeks prior. Having to pay VRBO and Catalina Island Vacation rental fees was truly double fees versus booking direct with CIVR

The house is well located. The kitchen has lacking needed items for cooking a meal. Absolutely no knives or cooking sheets. Bathroom clean and functional. Overall flooring was very dirty. Walking across the floor on bare feet would leave them black. Light bulbs or light fixtures not working. We have rented several homes on the island. This one will not be in our rotation.

The town of Avalon is so cute and definitely worth the trip. The VRBO is adequate but I’m not sure I’d stay here again. The location was amazing but the house seems more like your grandmas house that hasn’t been updated in at least 20 years. We spent most of our time hanging out and watching tv in the bedroom because the living room couch cushions have seen better days. It took a couple of days before we found the washer/dryer mentioned in the listing, because it’s outside! It was requested for us to was and out away dishes before leaving, which we did but there’s no dishwasher and there’s no dish rack. The bedroom tv remote only had one battery in it, but no extra batteries could be found — so now the living room remote only has one battery.

When we first arrived there was a broken window that had not been replaced which was extremely dangerous for my family to be around. The floors are filthy and broken in places. The king bed is extremely uncomfortable and the pillows are probably 15 years old nasty and need replacing immediately along with the awful sheets. The tvs were impossible to use so that really ruined our downtime. The washing machines are in a puddle of water outside which makes them very difficult to use. this house needs serious cleaning and repair to be an acceptable rental especially for non seasoned Catalina visitors. Btw I’ve been coming for 30 years and have never felt the need to write a review like this

The upstairs is for people around 5’ to 5’5”. The TV upstairs didn’t have sound? The floors were filthy, our feet were black. Noisy location do to it being on probably the busiest street. Dangerous stairs from the 2nd floor. Probably better for college kids.

We had limited lodging choices in Avalon since we were expecting to bring along a dog. This was probably the best option available among few options. We ended up not bringing the dog so we wish we would have known that - would have had many more options. Avalon is a bit of a crap-shoot when it comes to lodging and this place confirms that - it's someone's basic cash cow Avalon rental, with minimal effort to make it nice. Very rustic and funky place, characterized by not clean, leaking toilet, low ceilings, and dirty towels. Location's good (100 ft from beach) but Clarissa is among the noisiest streets in a pretty noisy town (gas golf cart heaven). Master bed was comfy. Book this place if your options are limited and you don't plan on spending much time in the house.

Loved the location and the price was reasonable. Appreciated it being dog friendly. Electronics could use an upgrade. Satellite tv or streaming services would add a lot. Also need to upgrade blinds. All of them are cheap and broken. The single bed in the upstairs bed room is not suitable for an adult. More than 1 ice tray would be nice.

Great house for our family. We will be back !

2/10

House looks cute and is in a great location - 5 minute walk to everywhere. That said, I've rented a lot of VRBOs over the years, and the condition of this one is definitely one of the worst. Place really needs updating, especially in the furniture and the bathrooms. The couch in the main room is dirty and needs replacing. The downstairs bathroom has one of the worst grout jobs I've ever seen. I've never grouted in a pre-fab shower, but I think I could have done a better job. Also there are cracked tiles in the surround, the tub has a lot of stains, and the sink spritzes needle-like streams that splash everywhere while washing your hands. If you are 6 feet tall or taller, you probably don't want this place as you will be scraping your head on the ceiling. I think the ceiling in the entry way and main room is right at 6 feet. I'm 5'7", and I could place my palm on the ceiling without standing on my toes. Very claustrophobic. The upstairs is even worse from this standpoint. The kitchen supplies (silverware, pots & pans, etc.) are kind of gross - we didn't cook anything during our stay, and I'm glad we didn't. The mattress in the master bedroom feels broken up - we were sinking into it pretty good. And don't even think about opening the closets - there is so much rust in the tracks that they are unusable. The supplies were pathetic: no beach towels, a couple of very small half-dollar sized rounds of soap in the bathrooms, and the shampoo supplied is one of those tear-open single use packs about the size of a pack of ketchup at a fast food restaurant. So if you decide to stay here, bring your own or purchase it on the island. Finally, the rental company is very rigid and inflexible: you must pick up your keys between 3-5pm and you must check out by 10am. Don't know why they can't activate the combination lock like most VRBOs so you can check in after 5. Also don't know why they make you check out so early - the cleaning job they do is not very good. The floors were so dirty that my feet turned black just walking around barefoot for a few minutes. If the cleaning job is going to be that weak, why do you need 5 hours to do it before the next guest arrives? They probably spent 30 minutes cleaning this place before we got there. The location is awesome: 5 minute walk to the docks, 2 minute walk to the main part of town, good restaurants very close. So if you want a great location, that is ALL this place has going for it.

We have been coming to Catalina for over 13 years for thanksgiving. This house was the “Worst” house that we ever rented. Everything about this house was just wrong. The couch in the living room belongs in the dump. Only one channel worked on the tv. We could play a dvd but had no sound. We were unable to watch any of the thanksgiving day football games in the living room. The only tv’s that worked were in the bedrooms. The upstairs bathroom is a joke. It’s only good if you’re under 5’ tall. They tried to make a single story house into a two story house. Big fat fail. Whoever did the remodel needs to find another line of work. Nothing in this house is built to code. It’s a joke. I’m going to be more careful next time we rent a home here again. We know the homes here are all a bit different, but this house should be condemned. The only redeeming feature of this house was the master bedroom bed it was very comfortable. We would have been better off in a hotel room.
