You can tell this place once was fabulous. They have tried to make upgrades here and there, but this place is in desperate need of an overhaul. The rooms are run down and look dirty/grimy. The lobby was nice, the fact that they stock breakfast items, coffee and other goodies in the lobby was a plus. We got to our room and the toilet wouldn’t flush. The person at reception was super nice about it and immediately moved us. But for the price charged, this was a very disappointing experience.

Expedia does not show the resort fee on the page that purports to show the total with all taxes and fees. A major flaw. The hotel itself was perfectly acceptable. Very little staff interaction, but just fine. Breakfast was quite good. Scrambled eggs over cooked but most hotels do that. The bacon was better than I buy for home. The grounds provided space for short walks in an otherwise built-up area. Would stay here again so long as it remains the least expensive area alternative.

The free breakfast was a good way to start my day. Did not spend much time on the grounds. One afternoon I used the pool along with of my relatives that I had been visiting. We also ate dinner in the restaurant that night. Perfect afternoon and evening. Wait staff was great. What I will have to say (and I will take some of the blame) was that the tub in my bathroom was somewhat dirty the day I checked in, but I rinsed it out . The stopper for the tub was completely out , so I set it back in. The next day I took a shower, the tub backed up. I was in a hurry that morning to leave, so I made the assumption the tub would be drained when I got back that night The tub still had water in it when I returned. It was late in the evening, so I did not call anybody regarding it. That night, I attempted to turn on the TV and it didn’t work. I called down to the desk and there were no workers available, and the person at the desk said there was an outage. He also mentioned that he would leave a note for the morning person and I could get my room changed if I would like. I had no interest in changing rooms - I would have to repack and unpack. I did not mention anything about the tub at that time, as I thought I would be speaking with somebody from the front desk in the morning. No one ever called me back. I ended up pulling the TV out as it was on a swivel, and there were “0n/off”buttons, and channel up/down buttons on it. I was able to get the TV to work. Left msg at front desk re: issues

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
Our room was not clean and after being offered another room on the first floor, all of the rooms on the first floor were not just traditional but musty, dusty, stained, damaged and outdated. The toilet had a cracked cover, unused old phone on the stained, wall-papered tiny room with awful, tub/shower. Only my teenage soccer player daughter used the shower as she was playing in the rain and needed to try to get clean. She absolutely would not after the one shower and said she would rather sit in the car for 3 hours until we got home to shower. Even more egregious was the fact that we paid $206/night plus $19/night for questionable amenities. We couldn’t use the pool due to the rain. I am not sure what else except outdoor parking which arguably shouldn’t be an extra charge in this non-urban area. I also discovered they had nicer “luxury” rooms on the 2nd & 3rd floors of the hotel which were only about $30/night more. We gladly would have paid this for a less “traditional” room. However, they were not available when booking and it’s not apparent on Expedia how much worse these rooms really are. My family will never stay there again. They couldn’t wait to leave. The Farmington Inn we stayed at closer to the soccer fields the year before for the same soccer event was not modern but cleaner and overall a better experience. The Avon owner needs to update the old rooms. They are not “charming” or “traditional” in the correct sense; there is a difference between “charming” and dated.

My husband and I booked a last-minute weekend getaway at Avon Old Farms Inn, and we absolutely loved every minute of our stay. The atmosphere was so relaxing that it almost felt like being on a cruise, everything was taken care of, and we were able to truly unwind. A special thank you to Chef Chris, whose culinary skills made every meal exceptional. The food was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We also want to recognize JG, our server and bartender, who was warm, friendly, and genuinely delightful. His outstanding service and personality made our stay even more enjoyable and truly memorable. We can't wait to return and highly recommend Avon Old Farms Inn for anyone looking for a relaxing and welcoming getaway!

I complained because it sounded like someone was rolling bowling balls across the floor above us all night long. The staff did nothing to make it better. There was another woman in the lobby complaining at the same time and nothing was done for her either. It cost a lot of money to stay there and would have been nice if they acknowledged that things were not right.
