This beautiful renovated Nantucket inspired cottage in Surfmans Walk is nestled in the maritime forest, just a short East Beach, the most popular beach on BHI. It is also a short walk (and even shorter golf cart ride) to Shoals Club, The Commons Park, Bald Head Island Conservancy and miles of biking, hiking and walking trails. Your hosts, Catherine and Brian, make sure you have everything you need to have a beautiful beach vacation.

The two screened porches and tree-canopied patio with fresh salt air and the sounds of soothing surf in the distance offer a perfect backdrop to read, drink a glass of wine, cook out, have your morning coffee and relax with family. The back screened porch has a beautiful swinging bed and directly accesses a boardwalk complete with ancient oaks, Spanish moss and a community gazebo. Outdoor deck is outfitted with gas grill and comfortable seating. Al fresco dining is available in the screened-in porch and the deck.

This house provides extra privacy as each bedroom has it’s own bathroom and smart TV. There are two bedrooms in the main house. The master bedroom has a king bed. The other bedroom in the main house has 3 twin beds (2 twins and a trundle). There is also a detached tree-house style guest cottage over the garage, which provides extra privacy with a queen-sized bed, smart TV and ensuite full bathroom. The crofter being detached from the house gives the guests added privacy and quiet.

Cottage is well stocked with all the comforts of a relaxing beach vacation—WiFi, 2 golf carts (6-person and 4-person), heated outdoor shower, 6 beach chairs, 4 cruiser bikes, cooler, bed linens, bath towels, beach towels, beach umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards, surf board, board games, books, puzzles, portable high chair, pack n’ play crib, Keurig and regular coffee makers, blender, crock pot and fully stocked kitchen. Bike helmets are not provided. Bike pump is in the garage.

Weekly rentals are Saturday-Saturday in summer. We will entertain shorter stays outside of the high season. Message me to discuss.

Our house has the option to purchase temporary memberships at Shoals Club (pool/restaurant/beach access/fitness center) AND Bald Head Island Club (golf/tennis/pool/restaurant/croquet/fitness center). Not all homes have access to both clubs. Shoals Club is closest to the house (5 minute walk), oceanfront and offers pools, dining, bars, fitness center and beach access. Bald Head Island club offers golf, tennis, croquet, dining, pools, park and water slide. Both clubs offer beautiful views and excellent food. Photos of the clubs are included in the pictures for our house.

If playing golf on vacation is important to you, then you need to rent a house that provides the option for a golf membership to BHI Club. This house provides this option.

Another benefit of our house is having 2 golf carts—4-person and 6-person. 2 carts enable groups to separate for the many different activities the island has to offer.

Amazing restaurants, a spa, and a fully stocked market are minutes away from this quintessential Bald Head beach cottage.

Everything you need at BHI

Wonderful house at Surfman's Walk. Kitchen is well appointed, living room is very comfortable, and there are beach chairs to take down to East Beach - what else do you need? A great week at BHI.

Wonderful Stay!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Ga-GA’s Gift. The house is very comfortable and has a great set up. There was a fun assortment of games that my kids enjoyed playing. Kitchen is well appointed. Beds are cozy. We love the location and being near East Beach and the Shoals Club. We would rent here again for sure!

Our First Visit to BHI

We had a great time, and the property was clean and well-maintained. It provided bicycles and two great golf carts, and it was well-stocked with beach paraphernalia. We shared the house with our daughter and son-in-law and our two grandchildren. The house was perfect for our daughter and family, and the crofter was perfect for us. BHI and the property were the most relaxing beach experiences we've ever had. We highly recommend this property.

Wonderful 2 weeks in BHI

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at Gaga’s gift. We stayed with our family of 4 (two teens) and my parents. We loved the location and the property. It is close to Shoal’s, Mike’s Bites and East beach. The home was well appointed for cooking, which was great for us! We loved to spend time swinging on the back porch. It is also so helpful that there were two reliable carts, AND working bikes! We would totally stay again, and we are grateful that Catherine shared her home with us!

Perfect vacation at GaGa's Gift

Our family had the perfect BHI vacation at this beautiful cottage. Catherine was an attentive and kind host. Her cottage was beautifully decorated, both inside and outside, with great amenities, all set in the lush Cape Fear Station neighborhood. The furniture and bedding were very comfortable, and the house was clean. One morning a large buck walked right up to the screened in porch as we drank our coffee while swinging on the comfy back porch bed swing. She provided beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes, etc. which greatly helped in not having to bring all that over on the ferry. I highly recommend this lovely piece of paradise for a BHI vacation.

Lovely cottage tucked away in the woods.

This cottage was perfect for us! Cozy and quiet, but near enough to the beaches and club that it didn't feel remote. Everything was as described. I especially loved the daybed swing on the porch!

Very cozy house. Clear instructions. Loved the separate crofter. Kid friendly - our two yr old did great in the space. Only a couple minutes away from south beach. Great internet service everywhere on the property and smart TVs in every room. It is tightly packed next some adjacent properties back in the woods but we expected that. Would recommend highly!

Wonderful home and hosts

Catherine and her husband were wonderful and generous hosts. They left us a bottle of wine when we arrived and were super nice when we got a flat tire on one of the golf carts. They were incredibly responsive and kind. And the home itself was clean, cozy, and lovely. Highly recommend and I would re-book here! My one minor note is that several of the lights didn't work, e.g. the bench light switch didn't work, and several of the lamps. I would *strongly* recommend using the soft white light bulbs and not the harsh white daylight light bulbs that were used in some places, the inconsistency in light color impacted the overall warm feel of the house.

A true “gift”

Relaxing beach stay

Clean, has everything we needed, appreciated the 2 golf carts so we could be flexible, great location, the boardwalk yard wasn’t as good for our toddler, having a bit of yard would have been nice. Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed using all the cooking supplies great location near the beach but close to the Turtle Conservancy and not far from the Market. We made use of the beach tours and the bikes. Catherine was VERY good at communication before and during our stay. Loved it!

Wonderful stay at cozy beach house!

We loved our experience staying at Catherine’s home on Bald Head Island! The space worked out perfectly for my husband, our 2 year old son, and my in-laws. The kitchen had everything we needed and the two screened in porches were especially awesome. We enjoyed the location and easy access to the beach. Plus, the ability to explore the island using the golf carts and bikes. Catherine was excellent at communication throughout our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a great place to relax on Bald Head Island.

Perfect little beach house!

We had fabulous time staying on BHI! This beach house couldn’t have been more perfect for our 2 families to vacation together. The house was clean, cute and convenient to our favorite beach spot (the point). Also, the host was great! I’ve rented a ton of vacation properties over the years and never have I had a property owner so proactive and attentive to our needs, which made for an even better experience than expected. Of all of our vrbo rentals this was the best. Catherine kept us aware of local events. The home had everything we needed and was organized and easy to find, much appreciated that fact. A Gift to Everyone

Gaga’s Gift was the perfect place for our family,! It was clean and bright, with a thoughtfully stocked kitchen and pantry. Fantastic location, home was perfect size

We loved the location of this home, easy bike and/or cart ride to east beach, resort and the Turtle Conservatory. By the way had the best snacks! This home had everything we needed to make meals. The two screened in porches we spent a lot of time in. The property is the midst of trees and plants giving us shade and views of wildlife and singing birds. We had lots of fun exploring the island by golf carts and watching sunrises and sunsets from different beaches. Catherine and Brian were so helpful, friendly to us. It made our stay FANTASTIC

Wonderful Gem on BHI

The minute we opened the door to “GaGa’s Gift” we loved how warm and cozy it felt. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you need; the living room is very comfortable for curling up with a good book, BUT the best spot is the porch day bed! We spent hours with coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. You’ll think you’re in a secluded forest with all the birds and squirrels! The main bedroom had quite literally one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept on! Again, Catherine, our host, thought of everything to make staying in her home most enjoyable! We would highly recommend booking this property and look forward to staying again!

Wonderful vacation...perfect hosts!

We stayed at Catherine and Brian's place in November and it was absolutely amazing! The property is very well cared for and the kitchen is well stocked. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and had everything we needed, including an "easy to clean" roasting pan! The beds were very comfortable and the sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep each night. The location is great...just a five minute walk to East Beach. The golf carts were in good condition and even had weather enclosures, which were great for chilly weather. Our hosts were very accessible and responsive. Catherine provided helpful information regarding the house, as well as island events during our stay. I would highly recommend "Our Happy Place" and we will definitely return.
