Greeted with a warm and kind welcome.
Very easy to find and plenty of parking on site.
It was a perfect choice for the 1 night stay we had in breaking a long drive from the north of Scotland to south yorkshire.
Food and drink in the inn was very nice and the service by the staff likewise.
Breakfast was included in the cost of the stay and we knew it was going to be as good as its past reviews. All in all a great stay.

Old established pub on the outskirts of Barnard Castle, within a 15 min walk of it's shopping area. Decorated to a good standard, room was bigger than average, with all the usual facilities in working order. However the bed was very soft & its mattress in need of replacement. Food the usual pub menu & of a reasonable standard. A good cooked breakfast was within the room tariff, making it a good value stay.

Stopped here for an overnight stay on route back from Scotland. Amazing helpful and friendly staff. Lucy and Matthew very efficient.
Chef catered for my wife's allergies and used her own lactose free cheese in the evening meal.
Evening meal was very good as was breakfast.
15 min walk into town where we found the chocolate fayre shop, which also did allergy optons.
Our bed was a bit soft for us, but we slept well.

The pleasant, friendly staff were particularly memorable for their friendly, helpful 'can do' attitude. The room(s) we were given were more than adequate for our needs and included a bedroom and a sitting room together with two TV's and the usual shower room. It was quirky, old and perhaps in need of a little TLC, but laid back and lovely

The Redwell Inn sits a short drive or a 15 minute walk away from the town centre and although the kitchen was closed for our visit the bedrooms were in use.
The bedroom was adequete, nothing special and perhaps in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were very soft, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good.
A good range of eateries are available a short walk away in the town of Barnard Castle.

As long as you are not looking for luxury this could be for you. A little tired around the edges, but seemed well run organised and efficient.

Have stopped here overnight on more than one occasion to break a long journey home to Scotland.
Comfy bed for the night with breakfast at a sensible price. Pub so good for a meal and a drink in the evening.
The busy staff do a brilliant job and are very welcoming and helpful.
We will happily use again.

Honestly no idea why this hotel is rated so badly…I’m a solo female traveller and when I arrived had a lovely welcome and the room was really nice! Obvs it’s not 5* but for £30 a night…you get a tv, your own shower etc…worth it! Was a bit worried it’d be awful but really pleasantly surprised. Lady at counter was so nice too.

Small twin room with no surfaces near the beds to rest anything on. Self closing loo with a lid that would not stay up. Good breakfast but everything including bowls, milk condiments had to be requested.

Room needs a tray on which to place suitcase. Otherwise, you have to use one of the beds to use your suitcase. The cold tap drips. Shower needs some sort of holder for soap, shampoo etc. Difficult to use otherwise because it is very small

The kitchen, restaurant and bar were not open for the date of our visit so no review of food or the public areas can be given. The accommodation however was made available.
This of course meant that breakfast could not be reviewed as it was also not available. The closure was temporary but did impact our visit somewhat. My review feeling is that we should have been informed in advance as the closure was planned.
The bedroom was ok, nothing special and in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were OK, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good.
For the evening meal we walked into town and had a great meal and we arranged breakfast there for ourselves. We would normally have eaten at the place we were staying in but other good eateries are available in Barnard Castle

The staff were very welcoming but the quality of food was poor. I chose a chicken Caesar salad and was served pieces of chicken on shredded limp lettuce with salad cream.. breakfast was poor too. Weak instant coffee and “fluffy” cereal covered in sugar coating. A long burner was lit which filled the room with smoke. I needed to change my clothes as I smelt like a “bon fire”
The scrambled eggs on toast when it came was good with nice fresh eggs

Arrived to find notes on both doors saying the establishment was closed due to refurbishment was not a good start. Telephoned the establishment to be told they were honouring overnight guests, thankfully.
Side door was duly unlocked and we were led to reception where we were told the floor in the kitchen was being replaced so there would be no breakfast which was included in our room rate.
Gareth, the member of staff dealing with check in, was going through this routine with other people checking in after us.
Hotels.com responded well to this inconvenience and we thank Hotels.com for their response.
The bedroom was ok, nothing special and in need of a bit or TLC. Beds were OK, not the best I’ve slept on however bed linen and towels were good.
For the evening meal we walked into town as the Inn was not cooking and had a great meal and we arranged breakfast there ourselves.
