Baros is more than just a beautiful resort in the Maldives.
We did not have a single truly sunny day during our stay, and yet we left completely satisfied. That probably says more about Baros than anything else.
We came expecting to enjoy the Maldives, but realized that what we were really enjoying was Baros itself.
The island is quiet, intimate and beautifully maintained, with nature always remaining the main character. The house reef and drop-off are wonderful for snorkeling directly from the island, the food was consistently excellent, and every meal felt like part of the experience rather than simply dining at a resort.
Most impressive was the hospitality. Our Villa Host, Mika, was warm, attentive and genuinely thoughtful throughout our stay. She helped us with everything while always maintaining the perfect distance. The same spirit could be felt throughout the staff.
Small details stayed with us: receiving the sarongs we wore during the Maldivian dinner as gifts, and being given two little hand-carved wooden turtles by housekeeping on our final night.
Baros does not feel like a luxury resort trying to impress you. It feels like an island that has been carefully loved and refined over many years.
We especially recommend it to couples who want to spend their time quietly but meaningfully, surrounded by nature, excellent food and genuine hospitality.
We had no sunny days, and it did not matter. We came to the Maldives, but we fell in love with Baros.
