A beautiful dog friendly holiday cottage in a very quiet off the beaten track location.
A beautiful dog friendly holiday cottage in a very quiet off the beaten track location. Very popular so book well in advance. It is only a mile away from main roads (A and B prefix) in the area. Some roads are only wide enough for a car and passing places vary dependent on the road. Mobile phones and SatNav work well in most locations. We drove to Dartmoor and Lynmouth without problems and a full tank lasts most of the week. A welcome pack is provided and includes information where to eat and fill up the car. We do not have an electric car but noticed not many charging points in the county so check apps if you have one. The owners are very friendly as are pub/inn owners and other people in the area. The cottage is very well equipped and includes flat screen TV, microwave, hob, oven so could self cater but supermarkets and one stops are few and far between and variety low. There is a shower, basin, and toilet in a small room adjacent to the bedroom which has a comfortable double bed. Car parking is excellent and on a purpose built level surface next to the property. It is best to eat out at local inns (eg Half Moon) a few miles away. There is ample parking even at bank holidays. Another cottage is next door and also available for booking. We found other holidaymakers friendly dog people. We just turned up at inns without booking in advance and had excellent experiences. Be wary car parking in small .villages is limited especially at busy timesWe generally kept dogs on leads at all times as farm animals are nearby and didn't wish to disturb them. One of our dogs can open doors and gates so used to being careful and leave everything in the same or better state than when finding it. A dog waste bin/bucket was provided by the owners and separate recycling containers available next to the car parkMost of the area comprises farms/fisheries etc and is private property. Walking off road is not allowed so don't even think about it. This goes for everywhere since nearly all land is private and this should be respected. Take care walking along roads/tracks since drivers tend to move faster than expected and like everywhere else the verges are no longer mowed. Allow time for journeys since need to slow down a lot more than expected on most roads and only the sharpest bends have warnings. Typical SatNav displays make the roads look straighter than they really are.
