"The location of this hotel is ideal, steps from Dam Plaza and the royal Palace, Ripley's, Madam Tussaud's, streetcars, the Metro and just within the canal district. Several attractions, bars and eateries near by, as well as shopping, high-end or not (ie. Gassan, Lacoste, Dior, Cartier, H&M, etc.). Centraal Station is about a 10-15 minute walk (unless you're a picture/video taker) or 1-4 minutes by tram or the Metro. A reminder, this building has been around for a very long time, the lobby is not the Hilton or Ritz, but is under utilized by its size. The elevator capacity says 8, not by American standards, we packed it with 4 checked suitcases and three people. Overall, the rooms were clean, though the carpet could use some cleaning or replacement, maybe some better lighting in the hallway. (Reminder, you're in Europe, bring a washcloth.) We barely saw the room staff, when we did the male staff kind of acknowledged you and the female staff were more friendly. The breakfast was a European style buffet with scrambled and soft-boiled eggs, assorted rolls or breads, assorted fruits, cheeses, meats, butters, yogurt, etc.; drinks are various juices and teas, milk, water and coffee. We had no issues with the wifi, took minutes to upload 1100 pictures rather than hours by satellite wifi. Biggest issue for us was no laundry. All-in-all for 7 nights and the location, with breakfast was a good deal for us without killing our European vacation budget."
