Holy Island is an excellent walking and birdwatching destination. It is especially rich in flora and fauna and is part of a marine nature reserve. Highlights include unique flowers, countless seals, and wading birds.

The island is dominated by the 16th century Lindisfarne Castle, standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop. This island is also home to the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning and is where the Lindisfarne Gospels were created. The causeway closes twice a day at high tide, please consult local tides times when crossing. You are perfectly placed to explore Northumberland’s highlights, including Bamburgh Castle, boat trips from Seahouses to the Farne Islands, Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed and many beautiful coastal walks. The cottage offers contemporary comfort yet retains its original charm and character. It is within walking distance of the harbour and sandy beaches. The property is designed for couples but offers a comfortable stowaway Z bed. This can be put up in the living room or in the bedroom, but space is tight.

Accommodation has everything inside.

Accommodation has everything inside. But no washing machine which if you were staying longer than 3 nights would be useful. Sadly garden a bit untidy with damaged decking and garden furniture. The old hot tub still in situ was not great either.
