A River Retreat is an Authentic A-Frame with 200' frontage on the Toccoa River
If, at this moment, you were standing on our deck, with the gentle rapids of the Toccoa flowing beneath you, not only the tranquility of the setting but also the charm of an original A-frame would beckon you to stay. Imagine there being crackling wood in the woodburning stove, or fresh caught trout frying on the stovetop, preparations being made to tube down the river or enjoyable peaceful moments in the hot tub. The firepit is ready to toast marshmallows, tell tall tales, or spin some yarn, as they say here and warm the soul. The sounds of the river will heighten your senses in the morn and lull you to sleep at night. Just breathe, relax, and enjoy.

Loved everything about this cabin and easy check in. The sounds of the river were so peaceful. The cabin also had everything we needed and more. We will definitely be back
The River Retreat is a true gem of a cabin. The A frame cabin is full of cozy character and we did not find a reason to venture out much, what with the roaring river and beautiful scenery! We look forward to coming back! Highly recommend!
River Retreat is spectacular! Everything from the cleanliness, the amazingly comfortable beds, of course the setting and scenery, the cozy (yet spacious) atmosphere and the location! What a relaxing, peaceful, serene place, I didn’t want to leave! The description is accurate and the host was easily available for communication.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Location and view are absolutely stunning. A few things we didn't realize: The second bathroom is outside below the house, the main bedroom upstairs has a window cut out so not completely private, and there was a bit of an odor but nothing a few store-bought plugins didn't fix.
Very neat, clean, and beautiful cabin and we enjoyed the wonderful river time with the roaring waters ,
We had stick fires and hot tub times and relaxation !
Grilling and wine time !
Nothing negative to say 👍❤️
Loved the location on the river. This is the spot to be for Mountain biking and kayaking. Life on the deck was so refreshing and relaxing with the sound of the river rushing over the rocks. Wi-Fi was great. Hot tub much appreciated for soothing weary bodies after a day of kayaking and biking
We booked this cabin last minute and are so glad we did! As we got out of the car and could hear the river, we knew we hit the jackpot. The cabin has amazing views from the deck. Our boys fished and played by the water the entire time. We enjoyed s'mores at the firepit and the hot tub after.
The kitchen was well stocked and beds were comfy! Location is convenient to town and we truly enjoyed a relaxing couple days in the mountains. Wish we could have stayed longer but we will be back for sure.
Amazing river-front, peaceful getaway immersed in the beauty of nature!
The location of the cabin was very convenient, as long as gravel roads are ok (we had no issues). Being so close to town yet also so close to hiking & waterfall trails, the river, and other great attractions (gold panning, Amicalola, treetop zipline, Blue Ridge) was wonderful. Even going during mid-February with mostly cold/freezing nights & perfectly beautiful cool days, the cabin was very cozy and had everything we needed! The river’s babbling brook feature from all of the rocks & boulders, & fast-flowing sound at night was so relaxing, and the hot tub being on the deck was a great feature. We have such great memories staying there, playing family games at night, and hiking to see waterfalls, or just hanging at the cabin outside by the fire pit enjoying the river. Big windows, a truly unique cabin layout/design, and amazing sounds & views of nature is exactly what we all needed.
The location of the property and the proximity to the river was outstanding. Anywhere you stand outside the home you can hear the river rushing past the rocks. The interior is pretty old and the furniture is on its last legs. It’s basically stuck in 1997 and hasn’t been updated or any new furniture bought. The fire pit by the river is needs to be repaired and the backyard was covered in construction debris and boxes. I had to clean out the fire pit since it had some burnt cans and trash in it. A couple new couches, and some general cleanup and this place would be outstanding!!

Mixed feelings
Address listed in check-in directions is incorrect, Advertised as 2 bathrooms-1 is outside and down a flight of stairs. Might be ok in summer but not one a rainy cold January weekend. Water pressure is very low. Barely enough to shower and toilets super sensitive and slow to flush. Water brown off and on. Comforters/towels appear dirtyUtensils dirtyThe house is cute and the location on the river is beautiful.
Clean and as described. Well stocked for cooking at the house too. Super quaint and peaceful! River provided lots of entertainment as well as the fire pit. They had wood a plenty which was really nice! Plenty of towels and anything you can think of which isn’t always the case. Thankful for a great stay :) neighbors on one side seem like they may not love that it’s a rental. No issues but their dog barks every time he sees someone and the guy just seemed a little grumpy haha but that could be in my mind. My point is not suitable for a gathering probably but for a romantic getaway or small family weekend it’s fantastic!

the most dirty and outdated property i ever stayed in
place was not cleaned in weeks, spiders and dog hair everywhere, the kitchen is fixed with duct tape since my last stay a year ago, great location, but everything is old and dirty. there is only one bathroom in the house, the 2nd one is outdoors and it's not usable. they shouldn't rent it before total remodeling, waste guest time and money, when you drive 9 hours to get there and find it nasty, refunding the money is not going to do you any good, your vacation is gone to waste already.
Beautiful views. Cute home. Lost power to bathroom light on first day, tried to reach owner through vrbo and home number with no response. Found other light to bathroom in bathroom cupboard. Odd electrical set up in home. Second bathroom you have to go outside to go use. Paint supplies all over floor. This is also laundry room as well. Had to add water to hot tub, jets shooting water all over porch. Home smells musty. Could use wash cloths in bathroom. Couldn’t and didn’t they or use water because the water was yellow. Even though I think they forgot that we were coming, we still had a good time.
My family had the most magical getaway at this charming riverside cabin. We played in the river, warmed up in the hot tub, saw fireflies dancing in the yard, rested and repeated each day of our stay. It was wonderful!
A lot of conditions were not disclosed. Such as the long stairs in which one must carry all of their belongings down to just begin their stay. Quite difficult not to mention dangerous for 70 year olds.also it was not mentioned that the upstairs bedroom is connected to the loft sleeping area.one must go through the loft area to get to the bedroom.
The cabin is great. We loved the coziness of it. It’s very close to the river so you hear the rushing water so well it almost puts you to sleep. Sitting in the hot tub in cold temps was nice. It is also one of the easiest mountain cabin to drive to.
Nice place, very homey cabin vibe.Bed mattresses, pillows & linens could be upgraded for better night's sleep.Laundry Room is accessed from outside basement level door, so a bit inconvenient.
Not great for elderly or young children, otherwise good. The winding stairs to the loft and upper bedroom are tight and dark, making it kind of scary to get to the downstairs bathroom at night. The 2nd bathroom is outside under the house, which isn't great with little kids in the winter. But that's probably a great feature in the summer. Overall, the cabin is way too dark in the winter. I will say that the host was incredibly friendly. It also appears that some concerns from previous reviews had been addressed. For example, the toilet seemed new, the fire pit was in great shape, and the cabin was clean (desperately needs a new couch though). All appliances and electronics worked. We enjoyed our stay!
We had a wonderful time in a beautiful cabin on the river! 100% recommended.

We were there from the 23rd-26th not a single a Christmas decoration to be had. Stairs to the loft weren't safe, banisters lose, no lighting, twenty-eight years old & fell down once. Hot tub not clean, slimy, leaves & debris. Beds uncomfortable, pillows flatter than a flitter. Couches are in desperate need of replacing, no comfort to be had. Parking situation is the pits. Lighting throughout wasn't great. Bathtub slippery, bathroom pretty dark. No carpeting or rugs, floors pretty dirty. Thankfully it is located in such a stunning area, spent an awful lot of time enjoying the quiet solitude.
This cabin is perfect! Very close to the river and gives total summer camp vibes with the bunkbeds in the sunroom and a great fire pit! Joann, the host, was a delight to work with. We will definitely be back!
