"After deliberating for a little while between giving this place a 6/10 and a 10/10, I settled on 10. I have never had so many opinions about a place before or written such a long review! But let me begin: The place seems like it attracts two kinds of people. People who are just passing through and need a place to stay for a night (which is who I’d strongly recommend the place to and why I gave it a 10/10, and those looking for what it claims to be - a wellness center/spa. As a simple no-frills lodge, it’s wonderful. Rooms are clean enough, cozy, right on the way to the Sequoias. The staff, as I will touch on, are an absolute pleasure and go above and beyond to help. We’ve paid more for far less cozy places. As a place that claims to have various amenities, it’s an abject failure and frankly, deceitful. This is absolutely no fault of any of the staff. They are clearly overworked, overwhelmed, and I would assume underpaid. For instance, one employee doing housekeeping, is also on yard work, while also doing evening check-ins, while also making dinner for everyone staying there. How on earth is that supposed to work?! Of course things will slip through the cracks when they’re all pushed that far. As someone who is pursuing a doctorate in Buddhist Studies, this place was especially disappointing due to its potential as a genuine place for people to relax and get a tiny dose of spirituality. Kern Riverfront Lodge

"Great place to stay in Kernville. I had the pleasure of seeing two of their little cabins as my trip was extended. Staff were very helpful in booking another night for me, although I did have to move as the cabin I was in was booked out the night I was adding. The furnishings are nice, and the bedding has recently been refreshed. The cabin-style rooms are well equipped with kitchens and sitting rooms, and some even have patios. The location is great; it is within walking distance from Riverside Park, the Kern River, and lots of shops and restaurants. Parking is tight, and it can be difficult to find parking since it is tucked away behind the building. Also, if you book through Expedia, you may receive inaccurate keypad instructions. My phone number wasn't working, so I had to call the after-hours line to figure out how to get into my room the first night. This was just a minor inconvenience, however, and I was in my room in a few minutes. Also not an issue if you arrive during the day. I've started to recommend the Riverfront Lodge to others."

"The location makes walking to the lake or gas station easy and a breeze. Place is clean, has A/C, and a fridge. Staff is friendly but not there most time, you have privacy. A thing I would recommend is bring your own towel, they are available they run small. Dollar Tree is an easy walk. Plus, they have televisions that connect to the Internet so you have some entertainment. Overall good."

Lakeshore Lodge

"Room was clean and comfortable but no maid service given between nights. Walking distance to Lake Isabella with a view from window. Remote-off-site check-in at nearby Barewood Motel after 3pm. Friendly staff. Comfortable room and bed, AC & paddle fan on ceiling kept it cool in very hot weather. Good TV choices. No breakfast provided other than coffee, so bring food, beverages, snacks or stop at a store on the way and use fridge and microwave. Restaurants 5 minute drive away in Kernville. No pool. Free parking. Quiet. I'd stay there again."

"The best thing about this rustic little lodge is the location! You have a private beach on the Kern River right outside the room! The owners are super chill and friendly! The AC was working its ass off to keep us cool on 95+ days but boy was it LOUD!! We literally had to go get earplugs😆 All in all, a lovely little family owned lodge for all of your Kernville adventures."
