"I loved this unique hotel, it was a tick off the bucket to stay in the rainforest! The staff are so friendly and the food is excellent and great value for money. It is very easy to get to the animal centres and I was still able to access the internet so could order grab taxis. I’d definitely recommend bringing bug spray! 100% would recommend, where else can you stay in the rainforest?!"

"One night stay before heading to the Kinabatangan River. Easy walk to the Orangutan + Sunbear rehab centres (both amazing). Was a long walk to my room with many uneven steps along the boardwalk without any offer of help with my bags. "It's a piece of luxury in an interesting place - don't let the exterior building fool you. You can be walking into another world in Sandakan and Hotel Sandakan is a sanctuary amongst it. The staff emulate the local Sabahan hospitality and friendliness, I will stay again next time."

"Nice enough room, great location and excellent staff, comfy bed, only issue was a bad smell that came from the drains, the staff were quick to spray the drains for us but it only temporarily masked the smell. Didn’t affect our stay massively but would have been nice to not have an odour. Would still recommend for a short stay in sandakan!"
