4/10 Poor

"Room cleanliness was poor - bogey stuck to a shower tile. Massive toenail under chair in room. Pretty disgusting. Small room, tiny bathroom, could hardly move in it. No storage space - no wardrobe, no bedside drawers. Very small space to hang about two t-shirts. Tv hung too low. No phone in room. No safe in room. No bottled water. No teaspoons - cheap, nasty wooden stirrers instead. Also, can be very noisy outside on Friday and Saturday nights from drunks! Overall very basic and disappointing. We won't be staying again."

"This hotel was a perfect to walk to all the sites of interest in York. Also, close to boarding the boat to tour the river, close to many varieties of restaurants and close enough to walk to the train station to leave. Lastly, we had a room looking over the river, beautiful. Our room toilet would not flush sometimes, even after waiting over 5 minutes to re the tank was full again. The toilet flush handle was com8ngbout of the toilet. The room was quite hot; but, the fan they supplied was helpful."

"The reception area was as nice as always and very welcoming and well maintained. The room was quite small and wasn’t as clean as could be the table was sticky and we found items under the bed. The pool area and changing rooms needs some money spending on it as the showers were not working or kit, the lockers were not working, the swimsuit machine was not working. Phones in room were not working. There are just a number of areas to address and for the charge of the stay it should be better maintained."

"Cozy family operated and wonderful staff. Stairs into our bathroom leaves me with accessibility concerns (they were inconvenient even able footed freshly out of a shower) but otherwise clean quiet and highly recommended - 5 minute walk to Yorkminster and the York city center and 10 minute walk to the train/bus station makes it ideal for travelers."

"Well located and the restaurant was really nice and breakfast lovely. Our king suite was located in the loft and was uncomfortably warm. We mentioed to the staff and they brought up an extra air conditioner. This didn’t help much and was far too noisy to sleep with it, so we didn’t sleep well. It definitely needs it’s own dedicated aircon system. The pool changing area was very tired and in need of some attention."
