"We had an overnight stay at Friars Carse and it was lovely. The staff are very welcoming, engaging and good fun. The building itself felt very homely. The food was utterly divine, I would go back for the food alone! There is a well stocked bar, with various places to sit and relax. If you are looking for somewhere to stay without the bells and whistles and really good food, this is the place for you."

"A spontaneous stop over due to traveling a long journey up to Oban. Hotel is very basic but clean, and excellent value for money. Check in was easy and staff were lovely. Only downsides were that the doors slam shut and quite a lot of them are squeaky and creeky (WD40 can easily sort that out). As a light sleeper my slumber was disturbed a fair bit throughout the night. So not a great night sleep for me. Also had to pay £5 for parking (description states free onsite parking) but is still worth a fiver."

"I thought the breakfast options were the most flexible that i experienced when it comes to traditional Scottish fair. Also, since we were there during beautiful weather, the varieties of birds out our window was an exceptional and unexpected feature"

"Food was a very good standard! Prawn cocktail and shin of beef were lovely. Good hot buffet in the morning also. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.. slept really well. If I am ever needing to stay in Gretna again, I would stay here. "
