"I actually booked this hotel by mistake thinking it was closer to La Spezia. What a great mistake! We immediately fell in love with it and actually changed the next part of our trip in order to spend another night here. It is definitely off the beaten path, but that is what we liked about it. It’s in a charming little village and the building and rooms were great. They were so accommodating. I would ABSOLUTELY stay here again. Thank you to the woman who worked reception when we arrived and for the very nice gentleman who worked the overnight shift, you all were great!"

"This is a remote place to stay, small, quiet, old and charming. It’s really only suitable for a couple maybe with children. The owner was there to meet us. He was thorough in acquainting us with the place and its amenities. We loved it. A real step back in time. "

"This beautiful palazzo in a small remote medieval town nestled in the hills, but also close to the coast was the perfect location for our group of 20 people. The accommodation was very clean and spacious, with multiple kitchens and large living areas, perfect for group get togethers. The garden and pool area were lovely. A local bar was nearby for meals, morning coffees and pastries, with shopping about 20 minutes drive to Aulla. The communication with Mirella prior to our arrival and during our stay was excellent, and Francesco was very friendly and helpful with information and tips on where to visit during our stay. These included trails and restaurants, as well as some very interesting towns. One of the local restaurants provided an unforgettable location and a banquet meal that many in our party ranked as one of the finest they have ever had. We were also able to easily visit Pisa, Lucca and Cinque Terra during our stay. Everyone enjoyed this amazing location. It was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended."

"This is a beautiful house with the most spectacular view down the valley! Kids and adults loved the pool, either jumping in repeatedly or relaxing on the sun loungers. The house itself is huge, well equipped and a cool escape when the temperature rose. The location of the house is on a road but that didn’t bother us. We had a hire car which we felt was essential ( although there was a small bus that regularly went past the house) it was a short drive to the nearest village (you can’t walk anywhere from the house due to the road and the steep terrain) there is a lovely gelato place in Monti, a good Lidl in Aulla and we had an amazing lunch up the road in Comano after a great walk. We did a lot of driving in order to visit various sites but the Italian roads and tolls were easy to navigate and the scenery is so beautiful. Trips we made: Pisa, Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure and we particularly like the town of Lerici. We had a great holiday and I’m missing that wonderful view from the pool!"

"Our group vacation was to reconnect five lifelong girlfriends. We brought our friends and families together too and the trip was magical. The villa is even more gorgeous in person. The landscaping, replete with natural beauty, is comfortable and inviting- flowers, herb and vegetable gardens, grape vines, and ponds with fish and frogs. Don't forget to bring a swimsuit because the pool saved us all on HOT July days and nights. The village is very small and intimate, atop narrow, winding, country roads, bordered with grape orchards, small shops, roadside water fountains of white marble statues, and a local cemetery. Plan to do your driving in the daylight; the views are not to be missed, and the roads are more manageable. The local church community center allows villa guests to mingle with villagers over ice cream on weekend evenings. Church bells ring out the hours, lending warmth and charm. Beatrice and her father took care of all our questions and needs. The apartments provided privacy for couples and families. Communal areas were great for dining and lounging. A road just outside the villa is the perfect place for a morning walk through luscious green trees and picturesque farms with old farmhouses. The site houses deep wounds from World War II, explained by placards along the route. It is a place of commemoration and healing. A medieval castle, mineral springs, quarries, Pisa, and the sea, were great day trips. Overnights elsewhere included Parma & Pompeii."

"Accurate listing. Ever-changing panorama of the Apuan Alps. Continuous cool air flow down from the mountain. Lovely view of the castle. Comfortable bed and spacious bedroom. Screens on windows and doors. Spacious outdoor deck (no living room, but that did not matter since we relaxed outside). Ate all our meals outdoors. We cooked all our meals the entire week. Full sized refrigerator."
