This was such a find! Stayed one night with friends in a private room while we hiked in the Brecon Beacons and it was perfect for what we needed. Perks included - plenty of drying rooms (it rained the whole time we were there so this was very much needed!), restaurant and bar, cosy lounge with fire and board games, and a sink in the room. Easy to find, plenty of parking, and great location. If I'm in the area again I will definitely come back.
It's a while since I stayed in a YHA hostel so perhaps had unrealistic expectations. At the right price would be fine but very overpriced for this hostel, which is looking a bit tired.
Quite remote. Staff gave us free left over curry which was very nice. Beverage options are vast. About a 30 minute drive from pen y fan. Only had WiFi in the main rooms though. No signal or WiFi in the room we were in. We only stayed for one night so it didn’t matter for us. cheap and cheerful.
Excellent customer service, I received a call around 8pm to check I was on my way and not lost, a nice touch.
On arrival a lovely and welcoming greeting, very informative on the hostel facilities and area.
I was taking part in an event on the Friday morning and had left the lid for my water bladder at home, the man who was on reception was very helpful in helping to try and find me a work around, above and beyond what he needed to do.
Very friendly hostel
We stayed on a cold Sat & Sun night in December. Very warm and comfortable place. Typical hostel. Can't speak for the meals as we self catered and used the pub in Lebanus (very friendly and good food). Only gripe at the hostel is the 5pm check-in. This is too late in winter. It's dark and icy.

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort
Not impressed
The boiler wasn't working in the drying room, which in the middle of winter when everyone staying has wet kit, is less than ideal. on top of that, the staff didn't seem apologetic or concerned about this fact. So we all just dried our kit in the lounge where it was warmest coz of the fire. Some of our party stayed in rooms little bigger than shoeboxes. I know its a hostel, so we weren't expecting 5 star, but a bit of floorspace would be nice.
très bon séjour mais l'arrivée à été difficile, en venant à pied par le chemin il n'y a aucune indication de l'YHA et nous avons du rejoindre la route principale qui est très dangereuse à pied.
Quelques panneaux sur le sentier sont nécessaires
Location is excellent and beautiful surroundings. The only downfall: There was really noisy, rude and selfish people staying at the property that was laughing and talking so loudly until 1 am in the morning when I had to go and say something. I also would have liked a proper English breakfast.
Nice, cozy, really great location and parking free
It was lovely, the staff was great and services as much as we can imagine for this price and in the middle of great national park. Really nice views and "sheep alarm" in the morning. But also we have a really huge spider in our bathroom saying "hello" below the pipe, so a little scary. It was great ;)
This is a great YHA in a great location. Comfortable surroundings, clean facilities (the only exception was the showers, they were a bit dated and muddy), friendly staff and a great location for walking. I visited with friends and we had a very good weekend in sociable surroundings, I'd thoughroughly reccomend this YHA if you're looking for such accomodation in the area.
Location is outstanding - beauty natural area. Rooms are very small and tight - but not unusual for a YHA setting.

Great place 4 km outside of Brecon. Small rooms with bunk beds, but just enough to have some sleep after long day in in the area. The restrooms, the dining place were clean. We stayed only one night here, and would come back.
Stayed 4 days at the YHA and I absolutely loved it. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful with pretty much Everything. This was my first solo vacation so naturally I had a lot of questions about tracks, trails and maps (being afraid of getting lost of course), but when I went out I felt comfortable. Food was good and the room was the exact size that I needed. Was a bit disappointed with the fact that there wasn’t a washing machine since I’ve read online, somewhere, that there was - but o’well there was a drying room so I could wash my clothes by hand.
I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back for some more bonfires and beautiful surroundings!
Great stay as usual, always clean, welcoming, peaceful, great scenery. Awsum helpful staff, ..good friendly folk here. Great place to stay
