The Park Hotel Ruapehu
10/10 Excellent
"Friendly, very efficient staff, all round good experience. Thank you!"
Great place to stay for large groups or families
8/10 Good
"This place is old but it is clean and room. It is work in progress. We had a nice time. It is what it is"
Mountain Heights Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent hotel and spacious room"
Traverse Cabin. Cosy three bedroom holiday home
8/10 Good
"Nice tidy compact cabin, great for our short stay. Comfortable beds, drying room for wet ski gear."
Tongariro Crossing Lodge
8/10 Good
"Everything you need, and nothing you don't. The rooms were very cosy even though it was freezing outside. This was a great little stay for our family of four. Only gripes would be the mattresses were old and tired so you could feel the springs and they bounced around a lot, and the wardrobe in the bedroom would be a lot more useful if it was replaced with shelves or a chest of drawers. Would recommend this place again though despite these things."
The Crossing Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Was pleasantly surprised with the room and facilities - a much higher standard than I expected. Spacious room, excellent kitchen and dining room. Would happily stay again"
Pipers Lodge
8/10 Good
"The place was busy due to the ski season and many seasonal workers stayed there, so night time could be quite noisy. There is also a kitchen on site offering simple buffet breakfast at a cheap price and other dining options for lunch/dinner. The staff members were very friendly and helpful; there were complimentary coffee and tea at the common area 24/7, a TV and a large lounge to chill at. The kitchen was quite packed but they have air fryers which could be very useful. The room we stayed in is central-heated. Close to National Park and Whakapapa, this place is good for a short stay."
The River Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Impeccable"
Manowhenua Lodge - Hostel
8/10 Good
"Room looked like it had been recently renovated. Everything was clean and tidy and it was very nice having an adjustable wall heater in the room. Person who showed me around was very friendly and helped answer my questions about the snow fields. The room is not very soundproof so could hear people coming and going to kitchen until quite late into the evening. Also the shared toilet ran out of toiletpaper and there was no one to easily ask for replacement. Overall good place to stay for one night to get up to the ski fields."
