Gorgeous Village Barn, nr Banbury / Chipping Norton - Cotswolds, Oxfordshire
10/10 Excellent
"Monastery Barn was a delightful cottage in the cute wee village of Shutford. The nearby pub was also great spot to have a drink and the locals were very friendly.Patricia and Alistair were the most amazing hosts we have ever encountered, they were so friendly and helpful. The level of detail and little touches such as welcome chocolates, supplies in the fridge and a very generous welcome drinks tray was much appreciated. The cottage was so gorgeous, we loved the homely feel, furnishings and very comfy beds. The kitchen was well equipped for catering.Unfortunately we didn't get great summer weather to be able to make use of the great outdoor dining areas. We would love to stay again if we ever return to the UK."
"Quirky and typically old-English. Whist the room was small, it was quiet and very comfortable. The staff, especially the dining room waitresses, were friendly and suitably attentive.
We enjoyed our meals and the location suited us very well."
"The apartment was spotless when we arrived. My daughter has Autism and finds new surroundings difficult to adapt to - she loved her room and the overall comfort and layout of the flat. Everywhere was absolutely spotless and a credit to your cleaners - give them a raise! It was nice to have such a nice place to rest up after our daily trips to Silverstone - I will book again, when we come next. A very big thank you."
"Julie and Ayman are great hosts. You do feel like you're a guest in their home. We had several fun conversations with them, and a couple of times found myself feeling like I was talking to an extended family member (Ayman and his strong feelings about diesel and electric cars comes to mind, as well as Julie and her careful breakfast service). Overall it was the personal experience we were hoping for as visiting Americans.
Only other thoughts are: there is no tennis court on site. That might be a mistakenly advertised amenity. And there are no other comfortable places to sit while on site, in case you find yourself on the property. These are minor things, of course, and if you're just using the place for sleep and breakfast, not a bother at all.
Recommend the place.

"Keith was a very good host and the home is exactly as advertised. Everything was incredibly well stocked and the small back garden was perfect for our two young children. We could walk to a nice playground and local pub all within 20 minutes, which was perfect for us. If you are looking to be in this area then I would definitely recommend!"
Spacious barn conversion in a tranquil Oxfordshire village

"Just returned from this excellent property. Communication with the owner was virtually by return. On arrival the property was immaculately clean and the beds and sofas extremely comfortable. The owner knocked the door on the first evening to check all was ok and we mentioned we could do with serving spoons and he returned with some moments later! What service! Absolutely could not fault any aspect of our weekend away. You will not be disappointed. We would definitely book again. Just a note the pub (only 100 yds away) no longer serves food but is very welcoming. "
"The Banbury Cross B&B puts a number of hotel chains to shame, from being greeted by the host through to the facilities and breakfast. Great place to stay, slept like a log and was fully refreshed for the drive down to Kidlington for work. Highly recommend this B&B."
