Watauga Lake Home! Hot tub, kayaks, Slip access & Mountain View!

Whispering Pines has the best view of the mountains and overlooks the lake just a short walk downhill to the private marina. Slip #6 is available for your use as well as 2 kayaks.
The cabin sleeps 8-10 comfortably and is perfect for a couple families with or without children.
The mountain chalet is a 3 level home and has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths
• 1st floor Master bedroom has a King and full bath
• 2nd floor master has queen and full bath
• 3rd level bedroom has two twin beds, a loft with two beds and a kids hide away with one bed
• The 1st and 2nd level both have gas fireplaces

It doesn’t get prettier than this. One of our guests, described Watauga Lake as Lake Geneva in the NorthEast corner of Tennesee. Our house sits atop of the mountains in Appalachia at 4500 feet. Because we are in the Cherokee National Forest, there are very few homes on the lake which makes the views prettier than normal. In addition, the lake gets warm early in the season. You can swim from April through late October. It is a short walk to the private marina and gazebo, where there is a private covered marina; Fish Springs will bring a rental boat to an open slip for you if you'd like or you can bring one yourself. In the winter, it is an amazing home located 20 miles from a handful of skiing mountains including Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian. Our home, completed in late November 2009, looks like something straight out of a movie with driftwood trees inside the house as well as indoor and outdoor water falls. You can be busy every minute, or simply sit by the water's edge and relax.

Wonderful property and hosts. Just the place and time we needed to get away, relax and use as a home base as we explored johnson city and Kingsport. Mountains and lake were amazing. Would definitely book again. The place had everything we needed. A great place to just be in the moment.

We really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Pines, this property is set in a very quiet and secluded neighborhood near Lake Watauga. Its very cozy inside with multiple fireplaces and enough rooms to spread out when visiting with large groups. The hot tub is located in a perfect spot to provide some privacy. We spent a warm afternoon outside grilling and making s'mores in the fire pit. The house is located about half an hour from a proper grocery store in Elizabethton so stock up while your out. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Tennessee.

The cabin was very nice. It was nice having the dock area to use for swimming and fishing. We enjoyed sitting outside under the covered deck because of the rainy week we had. The owner had contacted me several times to see how things were going. Plenty of room for every and we would definitely stay there again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay but it was misleading saying a short walk to the private deck . We enjoy walking but with a group that wasn’t considered a short walk and then inclines . We ended up driving up the road a ways and swimming at the lake . The house is perfect and host stayed in touch . We enjoyed our stay . Thank you

Unique mountain cabin Whispering Pines is an unusual and beautiful property. There are trees and waterfalls both inside and out! Every window, deck, and porch connects you to nature and stunning views. You will enjoy your stay, we did, loved it!

We had the best time at Whispering Pines! The outdoor spaces of the house are amazing with beautiful views (you can't see any neighbors!) and the lake is perfect - it was completely empty while we were there. It was a relaxing, refreshing week and Tom was highly responsive.

Whispering Pines was a quiet getaway for my family. The house easily accommodated our family of 4. Having a private marina made it easy to access the lake. The home owners were very helpful and quick to respond for any questions. We will definitely be back to Watauga lake and the whispering pines property.

My husband is from a small town in Tennessee very close to Watauga Lake. When we visit, this home is always my first choice!!! It's always clean and comfortable and Tom is super accommodating. We've stayed in several homes at the lake, but Whispering Pines is always our first pick! Perfect in every way!!!

Whispering Pines is the perfect property for anyone looking for relaxation, hiking, nature and time on the water. My family and I spent a week enjoying the cabin and surroundings. It was exactly what we were looking for and more! The property could not have been any nicer and accommodated our family perfectly. We would definitely return and so grateful we found this little gem! Thank you Tom and Heidi!

We brought the rain with us to Butler but had a wonderful time getting away from life for a while. We loved the fire pit and all the outdoor spaces. We rented a boat on the lake two days and managed to get some break through sunshine and catch a few fish. The kids enjoyed hiking the AT and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The house is well equipped with everything you could need for a great week away. Thanks for a wonderful spot to take a break.

We needed to get away. We also had a wedding to attend. We don't think there was a better place to stay. It was close to every place we had to be for the wedding. It was close enough for our grandchildren that live in the area to visit. It also gave us a beautiful ,peaceful place to rest. We plan on doing it again without a wedding. Cabin is beautiful, clean, and well equipped!

Fantastic place to escape from it all!! Beautiful home! So peaceful! Didn’t stay long enough to use the lake but did walk down to it and checked it out. Kayaking would’ve been nice to do since available. Driveway pretty steep since on top of mountain. From Florida that was a little different experience getting up. :)

House was beautiful, beautiful views, comfortable beds, amenities were great except issues with hot tub. Little disappointed house wasn't cleaned very well, had to clean kitchen and bathrooms. Dryer wasn't working and Tom was great, had it replaced as quickly as he could.

This was the third year that we have stayed in this beautiful cabin. My family and I love it. We usually stay at the lake more but this year we just relaxed and enjoyed the cabin. The hot tub is amazing, the scenery is gorgeous. The cabin had everything that we needed including peace and quiet. It is so comfy and just feels like home. Tom is a wonderful host and checks to make sure you’re checked in and made it safely. We have never had an issue staying there so there has never been a need to reach out to him. The cabin is clean, well equipped, and just everything that my family and I need for a week away.

We have stayed in this home several times over the past few years and had to leave this trip 3 nights earlier than expected because I received a call that my mother was dying. We spent several hours cleaning the house before we left and I notified the owner we were leaving. He sent me messages saying that we could book make up days 5 days after we left. 7 days after we left it appears his cleaner showed up and blamed us for trashing the house, and said we had animals in the home which was untrue. The day after my mom died he decided to write a nasty review and sent photos that appear to be a rodent that got in his home some time after I left and before the cleaner arrived. He then accused me of leaving guests behind after we left. Completely outraged after so many good years visiting this home.

The cabin is absolutely beautiful. It is a fully stocked cabin (house) that is clearly treated as a second home and very comfortable with all amenities. The decorations are very unique to a mountain setting - beautiful waterfalls inside and out; can sit outside and enjoy the peacefulness of the wilderness or see the stars; a nice fire pit that we used just about every night; great time to relax, play games, and cook out. It is in close proximity to the lake where we swam frequently - even rented a boat! Lots of hiking nearby on the AT. We even went to the drive-in movie which was great fun especially since our kids had never experienced one! On the one day it rained, we drove to the Biltmore to take a tour. Tom was very prompt in answering any questions and providing information and recommendations about the surrounding area and restaurants. He couldn't have been any more hospitable and wanted us to enjoy the home as much as they do. It truly is a piece of paradise and one that we will return to in the future. Thank you Tom and Heidi for opening your retreat to us!

From the moment you walk into this peaceful paradise, you see all the care and attention to detail that went into creating and maintaining this home... What an impressive work of art - inside is like living amongst the trees in the forest, literally with trunks winding up through the ceiling, complete with a trickling pond inside! Everything was prepared and stocked with all the amenities, so we just unloaded our luggage and moved right in! We were with a 2-yr old and twin 6-yr olds, and the gates to the stairways and all the fun nooks made it such a safe and fun house to be in! The owners really thought of everything- comfort, safety and beauty when designing the house! Within an hour we were able to get to the nearby ski resorts, Tweetsie Train station, all that we needed. There’s such a peace and quiet to the whole area, we were able to recharge and rejuvenate our souls there- even with the chatter of the little ones. This place is not to be missed!! Wished we were back there already~ We hope to be back again, esp so that we can finally see some snowfall next time around!
