"The room was beautiful with a patio that overlooked the lush hillside. The dining area was pleasant and the food was good. The onsen, however, could stand some refurbishment. The hotel advertises late checkout but I was told that 11:00 am constitutes late checkout. This seems like a bit of a scam to me. Made my departure more rushed than a I planned for it to be."

Excellent for families!

"We had an excellent experience at KAI Ito! Our family of four stayed in a room with a private hot spring tub. The suite was large and comfortable, and both breakfast and dinner were included. The food was extravagant and excellent, but note that it will not be appropriate for very picky eaters. The staff were all incredibly welcoming, accomodating to children, and their English was fantastic! I highly recommend this resort for families. We will definitely be staying at KAI resorts any time we're back in Japan. "

"We enjoyed staying at Ito-en Annex. It was a walkable distance from the Ito Station. They offer onsen (hot springs, “onsen meguri”) in the other two Ito-en hotels for the guests (Ito-en annex/bekkan, Ito-en Matsukawa, Ito-en honkan (main), which are on the same street. They list the time frame where guests can go to other Ito-en’s onsen (e.g., ends at 9:00pm if I remember correctly). We choose the half board option with buffet style dinner and breakfast. Both dinner and breakfast were great with so many different foods to choose. They also offer free shuttle from and to Ito Station but only a few in the morning etc. You may want to check with the hotel."
