The service is bit too formal- when we requested a dinner reservation we could not get the time we wanted and when we arrived a half hour after our requested time there were only two tables taken- it was empty. "What an exceptional spot! Marvao is incredible. The pousada is in a perfect location, and overlooking the plains below, it has a fabulous view. Our room, although small, was quite commodious and had historic traditional Portuguese furniture. Our dinner and breakfast were most enjoyable, although the dinner was not “gourmet”. Would we stay there again? Absolutely."

"The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the Castelo de Vide. The building is dated but everything is very clean and tidy. The room we stayed in was very basic. Few electrical outlets, no cupboards or drawers for our clothes and poor lighting, but the heating worked and the shower was wonderful. The breakfast served was outstanding. This hotel is good value for the money."

"The hotel is in an excellent location with good views over the rural landscape. The decorations are getting a little tired but it is still OK. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The one surprise that we had was that the only food on offer in the restaurant was local peasant food with no written menu available. The food was good but basic and we had no idea what it was going to cost us. The walls between the rooms are very thin as we could hear exactly what was going on in the neighbouring rooms!"
