The Dorothy Lou Family Home; short walk to beach, ocean view

This attractive three level home is good for families or couples wanting some privacy. Ground floor King bed as well as a fold out couch allow for 4 to sleep in one room. This room has a large flat screen TV and gas fireplace creating a cozy atmosphere. There is a bathroom with tile shower on this floor. A modern kitchen and open living area on the 2nd floor capture views of the ocean and access to a west-facing and south deck with BBQ. This floor also has a small TV room that serves as a bedroom with foldout couch, and a bathroom with 2 sinks and a bathtub, and adjoining large capacity laundry room. The master bedroom on the 3rd floor faces west to see Haystack. The other 3rd floor bedroom has 2 queen beds, antique furniture, a reading nook, also with Haystack view, . The top floor bathroom has an attractive tile shower, & skylight. Your "must have wi-fi" members will enjoy high speed connection with good reception in all locations of the home. Flat screen TV and a nice sound system on the 2nd floor offering iPod or iPhone connection to play Pandora selections, if desired. TV in master bedroom and ground floor as well.
This was a family home for 30 yrs, chosen by my mother, Dorothy. Though she's gone now, the many years we enjoyed visiting this home have great memories. We hope that by sharing this unique home and nice location with others, you might develop similar fond memories of Cannon Beach and the time spent in this home.

Third Year in a Row

This is the 3rd time I've rented this great house to host a number for friends from different parts of the country, all of whom love Cannon Beach. This time there were 7 of us and the house easily accommodated us. The kitchen is very well equipped; there are even good knives, everyone found the beds to be comfortable, there was plenty of hot water. The view from the deck makes cocktail time even more enjoyable. The location can't be beat. I hope to be able to make a return visit next Spring.

Perfect Beach Home

Annual family vacation

Everything was great, our stay at the Dorothy Lou has become a yearly tradition. The house fits our family perfectly and it’s an easy walk to the beach. The decks are great to sit and relax.

This was a great property and experience and it enhanced our visit to Cannon Beach. The location is perfect for access to the beach, hikes, biking, shopping, etc. We would definitely stay here again when we visit Cannon Beach.

Wonderful coast getaway

Our family (my husband and I, our 7 year old son, and his grandparents) all loved staying at the Dorothy Lou. The home itself is very clean and well appointed, plenty of towels and linens. Having access to the beach, amazing coffee shop, and grocery store all within walking distance made our stay a breeze. Some of our favorite memories we will take from the trip are our morning walks to the tide pools by Haystack Rock and playing board games around the table in the evenings. We would love to stay again!

A 2nd great stay at the Dorothy Lou House

I booked in for a 9 night stay this year and had a number of friends come and go over that time. Everyone enjoyed their stay. The house is very well equipped, the beds are comfortable, there is an ocean view from the living room and deck and from one of the bedrooms upstairs, the location is terrific and Karl, the owner, is very responsive and quickly answers any questions. I hope that we can come again next year.

Cozy beach home with old world feel

The property manager was very responsive and even called to check in on us when he heard the power was out. The home is cozy with more beach views than the photos let on. Beds were very comfortable and linens of good quality. The kids enjoyed playing flashlight hide and seek when the power was off and we had a very nice stay.

Girls Weekend

We loved our girls weekend at the Dorothy Lou Family Home. We had just a short walk across the street to the beach to watch the sunset and take a nice walk. Great location and nice quiet neighborhood. The house was very well stocked and laid out. The kitchen had everything that you could possibly want or need. Lots of towels in the bathrooms and nice bedding. We will definitely go back again!

Perfect family vacation location

Just a short walk to the beach, this was a great place to stay for our family vacation. There was plenty of space for six people to relax and enjoy the coast. We liked the soaking tub and the showers were as nice as an upscale hotel that we stayed at in the area. The kitchen was bigger than we expected. The house was very clean and we could find everything we needed throughout our stay. Lots of outdoor seating to listen to the ocean with your morning coffee. Close enough to walk to good coffee, a grocery store, and Moe’s restaurant. I’d definitely stay here again.

great home for our 3 generation beach vacation!

The Dorothy Lou home was ideal for our extended family vacation. Very nice and spacious 2nd floor living space and dining area with access to 2 decks. Very well-equipped kitchen. The owner had beach toys available in the garage for our 2 and 4 year old granddaugthers, beach chairs for the 1st generation, and a wagon to transport it all on the short walk to the beach. Owner Karl was helpful and very responsive to messages.

return trip to Dorothy Lou Home for a 3-generation family vacation

We had another very enjoyable week at the coast thanks in large part to this ideal home setting. The home and kitchen are very well-equipped and the location is ideal - a short walk to the beach; far enough from town to escape some of the busyness, but close enough to make it there and back on a nice beach walk. Sand toys our 2 and 5-year-old grandchildren, a pack-n-play for the 8 mo. old to sleep in; a wagon for transporting toys, wood, s'more and hot dog fixings to the beach. A nice spacious 2nd floor open living room/kitchen for all, and 2 nice outdoor decks, with the back deck looking out onto a green space. Ample and nicely furnished bedrooms to accommodate a large extended family. We hope to return in the future.

Perfect vacation getaway

Wow! Had the time of our lives. Plenty of room to sleep our family of 5 adults and 4 children with one under 2. Had pack and play for baby to sleep in, and high chair too. Close walk to the beach. Only problem we had was it had a lot stairs, which we already knew, but the grandson broke his ankle the first day and that was a challenge. We still had a great time and I would recommend this place as a great place to stay. Thank you to the Hadley family for opening their home up to us.

Spacious home with appealing setting

This was a very comfortable setting for my two grown daughters and myself for a couple of days while we explored Cannon Beach. We were very pleased to be a little removed from the busier part of Cannon Beach and enjoyed walking down to the nearby pub for beers and dinner and to the two stores to get any missing items. The kitchen seemed well stocked, although we did no cooking. The beds were all comfortable and had plenty of extra blankets available if needed. It is worth noting that there are two steep flights of stairs in this house and one flight is unavoidable if one is to make use of the kitchen and communal area of the home.

Wonderful house in Tolovana Park

This house was Exactly as advertised and was perfect for my various groups of friends who came over an 11 day period. The location is great; a short walk to the beach, a short walk to the grocery store, a short walk to the pub. The house is very well equipped with lots of cookware, glassware, small appliances, spices, coffee filters, laundry soup - really everything. There are even good knives, which in many places is not the case. The beds were very comfortable and there was always plenty of hot water. There are 3 televisions which we never watched as we were lucky with the weather and spent a lot of time outside. There are games and puzzles as well. Parking is easy. There is a nice ocean view from the deck and the living room and one of the upstairs bedrooms. I had a couple of questions and Karl responded instantly. I would recommend the Dorothy Lou house without hesitation and hope to visit again in the next year or two. It's a great spot from which to enjoy Cannon Beach and the surrounding area.

A lovely fall visit

Had a very nice four day stay here. The weather was typical fall, some sprinkles, some fog and some lovely sunshine. And it was all terrific! The house had everything we could want. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. Bed was comfortable and the best part was the quiet neighborhood and the view from the bedroom of the monoliths and the ocean. Karl checked in with us almost as soon as we arrived via text to make sure we were set and had the ability to get us help if we needed it with anything. But all was well! Got in easily with the directions. Enjoyed the gas stove in the living room (which quickly warmed things up) and the nice soaking tub after a day walking on the beach to central Cannon Beach village, exploring and returning. The tub was one of the reasons we chose this house and I wasn’t disappointed! This would be a great place for a family reunion or family group as there is plenty of places to sleep and have privacy. Even though this was just the two of us it was perfect for that too! Would definitely come another time.

Annual beach trip

This house is perfect. Plenty of space for everyone to move around. The decks are great for catching some afternoon sun and the kitchen has everything you need. The owner is prompt with check in details and very reachable if needed. This was our 3rd stay and already have the house booked for next summer. Beach is also a very short and easy walk.

Prefect Family Retreat to Relax and Refresh

The Dorothy Lou Family Home was very comfortable, well-kept and convenient, and felt like relaxing at your personal ocean getaway. The well designed kitchen was well-stocked with cookware, cooking utensils, spices, coffee filters, pantry essentials, etc. The location is convenient to most of the local attractions, including a three-block walk to the closest beach access. The ground floor bedroom suite with TV sitting area and walk-in shower was an added bonus because it made the house more accessible. We slept well in the comfortable beds. There was an abundance of hot water and large, plush towels, especially ideal for the deep soaking tub. In a quiet neighborhood with views of the ocean and Haystack, the Dorothy Lou Home was perfect for our family retreat. We look forward to coming back!
