"You don't stay in Arenal for the area around the B&Bs. You go to Arenal because it's funky and quiet and friendly . We return to Casa Donna Rosa for the welcoming owners and most of all for the fantastic breakfast preparations. I have only been gone one day and I miss their breakfasts already. Home baked Challah in think hunks with baked crisp finish the their french toast...yumm even before you try adding the smear of preserves. Great Costa Rican coffee is served with pots of wam milk. "

"We had a wonderful time at The Red Sunset of Guanacaste! The house is amazing, the views are spectacular and the host, Patrick, was so so helpful! And we can’t say enough about the wonderful delicious healthy breakfasts that Lisa and Mar made every day. Each day Patrick helped with our plans , sometimes arranging in advance. He also had terrific recommendations for dinner, we all loved the evening at Gingerbread Restaurant, a superb dining experience.Can not say enough good things , thank you Patrick!"

"I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order breakfast. Finally, if you're a gym rat like me, there's a gym that's $5/day to drop in that's a 3 minute walk from Kakao Lodge. We were also fortunate enough to be there while the owner, Laura, was there. Her and her husband are delightful people if you're lucky enough to get to meet them as well. If you want to experience the rainforest of Costa Rica while still having a comfy bed to go back to at night, I can't say enough for staying here. "

"My wife and I loved this property. 3 adults and 2 children in our group. If you are okay with simple accommodations with great service and beautiful scenery you have to stay here. Grounds were immaculate when we arrived and we were greeted with 2 Toucans as we headed to our cabin. Tons of hummingbirds flying around. This place just felt so full of life! The hikes on the property were great. Took my 77yr old dad to the waterfall. He had no issues. We were the only ones there our first day and our family had the place to ourselves. It felt like our personal playground. Dinner and breakfast onsite was great and lots of food. Super fresh! Would highly recommend it if you're looking to be with nature! I will definitely come back!"
