"Poor experience given the price paid which was $30 per night for a dormitory. The breakfast buffet is minimal and dissolved quickly by people who literally thrust it into their bags without any oversight, and from thereon it isn't replenished correctly for all the other guests.The guy responsible for making the breakfast was super rude too. The entire place isn't effectively cleaned either which is sadly the reason why I have to give 1 star. Even with the few negatives expressed, I was itching...

"I was only there for two nights. They did a good job of letting me in and out of the building. They also let me store my belonging while I waited for check-in. That was very nice. The bathrooms weren't ideal. The part that I really struggled with was the horrible beds and the bugs that were everywhere while I slept. I probably got about twenty bug bites while staying in that hostel. "

O local em que está localizado é perigoso, o banheiro é imundo, cheio de baratas, a roupa de cama é imunda, o atendimento é horroroso, e não há custo benefício que compense uma estadia nesse lugar. "Hostel muito bom, quarto com apenas 5 pessoas, amplos espaços de convivência, ótima cozinha e banheiros, flexibilidade nos horarios, bons colchões e travesseiro. Ar condicionado novo que poderia ser usado o dia todo, raro no Rio. Deixa a desejar em não ter tomada nas camas, apenas uma em meu quarto. Não ter locker, apenas armário que servem duas pessoas. Beliche frágil que balança. Não tem micro-ondas e bebedouro, precisam corrigir isso no anúncio. Fica numa parte da lapa um pouco mais...

"Originally booked 1 night and ended up staying for 3. Really wonderful hostel in a beautiful building. Rooms are clean and comfortable and everything works well. The location is fine, if not ideal--lots of grocery stores nearby though not restaurants, 13-min walk from the metro, and centrally located between Copa and north Rio--which I think helps keep the price great. The common areas are quite nice, if not particularly social. Thanks for a great stay."

"Hostel is amazing - provided you are pretty chilled and roll with whatever is happening. Had a brilliant stay, it was the perfect location to explore the city and surrounds; but also for Carnival events. Rooms were comfortable (had air con @ night, but fans through the day) and were fairly quiet. Unfortunately I don't think the room is swept often and the bathrooms got dirty very quickly; likely from a couple of plumbing issues which meant the floor in bathroom usually wet. Wi-Fi was very hit...

"Num primeiro momento fiquei meio perdido tentando localizar o hostel, mas depois deu tudo certo. Fui muito bem atendido pelo Yuri no check in e encontrei o quarto limpo e com uma cama confortável. Os outros ambientes são limpos e o café da manhã é simples, mas condiz com o valor da hospedagem. De um modo geral eu adorei a minha hospedagem no Hostel Mambembe!"

"Good location, Alex the receptionist was nice, clean. However, i felt little privacy in my private riim as you can hear literally everything from the room door ( I could hear the guy next door breathing /snoring as if he was in the szme room). This is a very big negative for me so I would not stay there again. "
