Don Carlos Marbella

8/10 Good

"The Residences are fantastic family rooms. We had a 2 bed which meant 2 terraces, a kitchen with washing machine and 2 en-suite rooms. However, as I seem to find in European 5 star hotels, little thought is given in designn stage to women who may want to put make up on or blow dry their hair for dinner. No make up stand/dressing table with mirror and seat, just the non-air conditioned bathroom to fry in! Also we had to call to request a clothes airer after using the washing machine - a small detail but should not be overlooked at 5 star level. The food in the restaurants was excellent, as were the serving team. This is not really a hotel for kids… the kids pool has slides - oug of action for the whole 12 nights we stayed. Kids club was extra and we paid €90 for our kids to put toppings on a pizza base! The kids are not allowed balls or any form of inflatable in the pools, so it is there just for swimming up and down. The tennis centre is great but heavily pre-booked. The Lucia Beach Club was expensive, for average standard food, and sadly I cut my feet (reported to hotel) on the floor of the pool (grout I assume as sort of skinned my toes!). All in all, a good, but not excellent stay in July 2026. We will revert to iKos as a family in future."

"Me and my family stayed for like 8 nights we choose this place because of the location near airport, very clean , good amenities and very helpful and friendly staff , I really recommend this place , if o have to say something about this hotel is that around the hotel there is nothing like walking so you will need a car to go around."

"A couple of downsides we had about the property. First it wasn’t clear that the hotel catered more for Spanish Holidaymakers, particularly with regard to the meal choices (although we didn’t have an issue with this). The other thing is that I think we were put in an accessible room ( possibly because of My Dad’s age although he has no major mobility issues). The room was big but had no balcony or terrace like others on the same floor. Apart from those issues we enjoyed the hotel and found it ideally situated for the beach and transport hubs."

"Only 10 mins away from the busier louder restaurant/club area of Marbella. Beautiful property, service and stay was perfect. On site restaurants were high quality and great service. Value, comfort and cleanliness all top notch. I highly recommend and will definitely stay here when back in Marbella."

"Lovely place, affordable, well maintained for the most part. In a residential area and about 30 min bus/ train from town, but the bus and train are fairly close and very accessible, €1.4 for train, €1.5 for bus. Have not been able to use the canteen as it has been closing before 12 pm. My room was not the tidiest when I arrived but it was refreshed through the week. Overall, lovely place but I’ll book something closer to town next time."
