"We had a lovely week's holiday in this property despite poor weather - it is exactly as photographed. We all loved the table tennis in the basement, the g/kids also enjoyed playing hide and seek in such a quirky property. The dishwasher was a bonus and as there is a washing machine and tumble dryer, I even went home with clean clothes. We saw deer and a boar at the feeder near the lake. Unfortunately, sat nav took us to the wrong place - make sure you go to La Framboisiere not Saucelle. The...

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful and we were made to feel welcome immediately by our hosts. The pool and trampoline were a hit with the kids and the peaceful grounds were ideal for our large family getaway. We would definitely recommend the house and location and would definitely like to visit again."

"Mes amis et moi avons organisé un grand dîner au château à l’occasion du nouvel an, les lieux étaient parfaits. Le château est très charmant et décoré avec goût. Il y a une grande cuisine et un grand service (assiettes, verres, couverts…) ce qui est pratique pour organiser un dîner. Les propriétaires sont très accueillants et à l’écoute. Seul bémol, le chauffage en hiver. Nous recommandons à tous les amateurs de belles propriétés et d’histoire (ancienne demeure de Lavoisier ☺️) !"

"We (two couples) loved our stay at Gizeux. Stéphanie is a generous host with her time and hospitality. Our stay started perfectly with a home cooked meal and stories about the history of the château. Gizeux is an excellent base to explore the Loire and its magnificent châteaux. At the end of the day it was always very special driving back to our very own! The family is doing an incredible job of preserving the château and it was an absolute privilege to make it our home for a few days."

Everything about the house is magnificent - the setting, the gardens, the multiple options for enjoying the outdoors as a group, or spending alone time. The house is so spacious and just perfect for 6 people. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed several meals at both the kitchen table and the more formal dining room. "There were eight adult family members on vacation. The property is absolutely amazing. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed during our stay. The grounds are meticulously maintained and the only sounds you hear are the sheep in the dry moat and the birds that inhabit the property. Though there is no air conditioning in the home, the temperatures were very manageable with the windows open. Chartres is a charming town, away from the hustle and bustle of Paris....

"The stay was perfect in every way. The Park Room that we stayed in was full of antiques, with stunning decor and four shuttered windows that overlooked the the estate, pond and horses, donkeys and cow. The breakfast was very special with the host's homemade marmelade, bread, yoghurt, fresh fruit and eggs from the chateau gardens, local cheeses, pastries. Amazing. Ivana was a wonderful host and was so knowledgeable about the area and local history; she goes above and beyond to make the guests...

"Francois was accommodating and helpful. We didn’t realize no taxis run on weekends so we were a bit stranded at the train station. Luckily, Francois and his friend swooped in and made sure we were transported safely to the chateau. The building, room and property were wonderful and we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend."
