Downtown Carriage House | 1 BR Loft close to the historic downtown mall

This charming one bedroom carriage house in the heart of downtown Charlottesville offers southern elegance with modern convenience. The second floor loft combines a private, comfortable atmosphere with a desirable location offering easy access to 1-64 and within a mile from both UVA and 1/2 mile from the downtown mall. The second story living space was designed with luxury, comfort and privacy in mind. Sitting above an enclosed garage, the carriage house offers a living room, full chef’s kitchen, private bedroom and full bathroom that was renovated in the summer of 2018.

The separate bedroom offers high quality bedding with top of the line linens and a gorgeous view of Monticello and Brown’s Mountain. The main living space has a pull-out queen sofa, LCD television with Sonos Soundbar, desk space, and wireless internet. The large chef’s kitchen offers a full size refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as ample counter space for meal preparation. We offer tableware and utensils for you to use at your leisure during your stay. You may also enjoy dining on the back deck or sitting on the outdoor couch and taking in the comfort and relaxing atmosphere as you overlook a private wooded lot.

Looking to accommodate MORE GUESTS?  Downtown Ridge (listed separately) is located directly in front of the Carriage House and pairs perfectly to sleep up to 10 guests.  Give us a call with any questions about renting both!

Perfect Long Weekend Getaway

This property is great! Is better than the pictures. If you are looking for a property with a large kitchen this is it. It’s a perfect spot for a weekend getaway. The access instructions were incorrect but the host was responsive and resolved the issue quickly.

Super loft!

Loved everything about the place, except maybe the hard-to-reach cobwebs ;) Great location! Felt like being in a tree house - quiet, forested, and perfect for 2 people. Had everything we needed, and a wonderful place to return to after hiking, sight-seeing, or hanging out downtown.

Great little spot-tucked away

This was a great spot for my family and me. Cute, comfortable, and had what we needed. It is easy to get in and feels private and calm. One thing to note, the listing is actually through Stay Charlottesville, which means that communications come to email instead of the VRBO app. This just adds another step so I would recommend that the hosts send the info through the App as well. Much easier than searching emails for door codes and details. The dishes were also clean in the dishwasher when we arrived and there was a broken glass in the dishwasher. This was annoying to have to deal with when we first arrived but that was the only thing! Everything else was great and I would highly recommend!

Perfect for a weekend getaway!

We loved spending a long weekend at the Carriage House! Beautifully designed, well appointed, quiet space that was conveniently located for all our activities. The beds were incredibly comfy! We even got to spot a white (leucistic) deer while hanging on the great porch. We would have enjoyed having a few decks of cards or games for family fun, but otherwise we had everything we needed! Would definitely return!

Charlottesville

This property is above a garage in an old neighborhood…the property was very dirty with dust and cobwebs and the kitchen stove top was grimy! The kitchen lacked proper cooking utensils and the pots and pans were extremely old…the cabinets need updating and cleaned! The bathroom was clean but the floor was not and the living room needed a good vacuuming and dusted! The area was old and run down but close to the historical sites! These pictures are very deceiving and we will not be returning! If ppl pay attention to detail then I believe this place has a lot of potential…we will not be returning!

Comfortable Carriage House apartment with garage

The Carriage House was just what we needed for our stay in Charlottesville for the weekend. Quiet, comfortable, and convenient with the bonus of our own indoor garage space. Our review would be 5 stars except as mentioned by previous reviewers, unit definitely would benefit from more attention to cleaning (dust, mildew in shower) - and from some basic updating (paint refresh, repair of stone block pad outside back door, etc.). Also a toilet paper holder would be a nice touch.

Property great but a little warm

The reason I gave this property a four instead of five was the air conditioning. It seemed to go back to auto about four times a day and because of this the property stayed mostly around 77 degrees it was pretty warm. Every time we left and came back we would have to start over with the tempature. Otherwise the property was perfect

Great Weekend Stay in Charlottesville

Had a great and simple stay in this property while in Charlottesville for the weekend. Check-in was slightly complicated when my assigned door code didn't work, but Stay Charlottesville was quick to respond with a working code. The property was exactly as described and the added bonus of the garage space was fantastic, especially with the heavy rain that came in on our final day (loading up the car while dry was a great bonus). The only minor recommendation I have would be for the property to have a another cleaning pass beyond the routine floors, countertops, and bathrooms: there were a few locations where dust and cobwebs had accumulated. The floors, Countertops, kitchen, and bathrooms were all spotless, just needed another once-over around the areas that don't get attention as much. Overall was a great experience that I would recommend and would stay again.

Fine basic rental

The location was excellent via car - not so great for a pedestrian. the rental is above a garage behind another rental property, and the access is through the storage/garage, which is having a bit of a drainage issue. once inside the property is fine - very basic, as photographed/described with minimal eclectic furnishings that show wear. Mgmt was responsive upon arrival when our codes didnt work, but not responsive upon departure when we couldnt figure out where to put our trash. its fine, but I wont be coming back.

As Advertised

Nice property, very clean, everything was as advertised. We only had one issue. On the morning of checkout we realized the dishwasher did not work. It's possible there was something quirky about it and we didn't jiggle the handle in the proper way but we just hand washed the dishes we had used, no big deal but the owner will want to check this out. Other than that one small issue, everything was fine. We would stay here again!

Great place

Place worked put very nicely and we booked the same place for another trip. One suggestion. Place needs a broomand a frying pan. Other than that place was super.
