WANNA GET AWAY? Welcome to Teaches Retreat! Accessible by 4 x 4 only! Our cozy beach cottage set right behind the dunes where the horses roam free. Our 4 bedroom 3 bath home is the perfect getaway for you family vacation. Only a 300 foot walk to the beach! Just 10 miles from the end of the paved road you will find privacy and shade when desired and fun in the sun with our beautiful OBX weather and cooling trade winds. Located in the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge, you won't find the privacy and beauty of the beach like you will here on Carova Beach.

This is are 1 and only family trip every year and we wouldn’t stay any where else! The location is perfect! Horses come through the property daily and the house has everything we need! The host is very prompt and helpful! We love it here!

The home was very clean and well stocked. We loved the screened porch and proximity to the beach...only steps away. We could hear the waves and see the beautiful dunes and sunrise. My bucket list dream was to see the horses and we had horses in the yard everyday...including a baby. The house itself is very clean, beautifully laid out and had everything we ever needed. John was a great host and responsive to my questions which were few because it was such a simple booking and stay. HIGHLY recommend.

The cottage and location exceeded our expectations! The cottage was very clean and well stocked. We saw the horses everyday, either right at the cottage or on the beach!!! The most relaxing vacation we have had in quite a while. Hope to be back again next year!!

Can't say enough great things about the place and the owner John and Kim. The pictures listed don't honestly do the place justice inside and out. Will definitely book here again in the future and can't wait to make it back down to the Outer Banks again.

Clean, comfortable accommodations in a beautiful location. We had a great time with our 4 kids relaxing, exploring, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings including horses that visited the yard! The house was well stocked with everything you could need. I was particularly impressed with the kitchen. We cooked most nights and had every tool I could wish for. The hosts were thoughtful and helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Comfortable and clean home with a well-appointed kitchen, and plenty of towels. But the location was the best amenity. I would stay here again. No questtion. A very short walk to the beach and less than a mile to False Cape State Park. The owner/host proactively contacted me to advise me of high & low tides. It’s much easier to access the house at low tide.

I recently stayed at a stunning property that truly exceeded my expectations. The house was beautifully decorated and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The serene surroundings added to the charm, making it the perfect getaway. This property provided an unforgettable experience. The combination of a beautiful home, excellent amenities, and the wonderful presence of the horses made our stay truly special. Highly recommended! P.s a the horses decided to take a nap to the entrance to the downstairs and in front of the grill. Had to chance them off to cook hamburgers.

This house was clean, cozy and just the right size for our family trip. We wanted a private, non-crowded getaway and that is exactly what we got! We enjoyed the beach drive to get there, being so close to the beach and came just to see wild horses. We were able to see them every day of our stay and they were in the yard for quite a bit one afternoon! We had everything we needed

This home is in a great location! Short walk to the beach was a plus considering it is the 4x4 area. We had everything we needed including supplies plentiful for the first day and decent sand chairs which was a first in the 20+ years vacationing in Corolla and surrounding areas. Although the weather was not the best, we still enjoyed our vacation, enjoyed walks along the beach. For my wife, the best part is when had visits from the horses, that was the selling point of the house her. The house is cleaned and maintained. The proximity to the ocean was very nice, even my dog liked that. I would recommend the property

We loved our stay here. The house is perfect for family with nice bedrooms, baths, well stocked kitchen, and lower level game room. Perfect location to the beach. On our first day, we had to wait to get in because one of the wild horses was having a bite to eat in the yard! We all agreed it was a great traditional beach house and the owners take great care in making it nice and comfortable. The drive in is no joke but great fun once you get used to it.

We arrived at the beach after the sun has set, and our first drive on the beach was a little bit scary, but every other aspect of our stay was incredible. The property was huge and had lots of conveniences available (blow dryer, salt, and pepper, lighters, wood), so we did not have to drive off the beach to pick up any little items. We had amazing weather for late November and numerous visits from the famed wild horses. We could not have been happier about our stay.
