So many simple pleasures await you in The Weathervane. Wake to the beautiful sunrise and pounding surf. Step out on the deck with that first cup of coffee. Touch the moon glade just steps from your front door. This is Relaxation!!

What fun to use the outdoor telescope in this lovely semi-oceanfront (2nd row) home, situated in a very quiet section of the 4x4 beach. Located just 7 miles north of the end of the hard road and nestled between two wildlife preserves, your shoulders will drop as soon as you pull in. The serenity on this part of the beach is amazing. Watch the breakers from the nicely stocked kitchen in this reverse floor plan home. You may even see some brown pelicans fly by as you sip your coffee. Spend your morning on the screened in porch watching the wild horses. You may also spot foxes, bunnies, deer or black hogs. (They are here but are elusive!) Wildlife abounds on the beach as well with all kinds of bird and fish, shellfish and mollusks. Shelling is a favorite pastime, not to mention fishing and swimming. Leashed pets are allowed on the beach so you can bring your dog and enjoy the day. Setting up is easy since you will be able to take your gear to the beach in your car. You can even park on the beach and use it as a base of operation. Two beach parking passes are provided for guest use... so no extra expense with our homes!! Forgot something? … no worries, since the house is just steps away.

Everything is better at the beach, including sleeping! Two of the three bedrooms have memory foam queen beds, flat screen smart tv’s and private access to the second level deck. The third bedroom has a flat screen smart tv and a duo-bunk bed (double bed lower and twin bed upper, also memory foam). This home has plenty of room for a small family, but will also suit for a couple who just need to get away from it all.

If you are not familiar with Carova Beach, you will be enchanted with the excitement of driving on the beach, witnessing wildlife in its natural habitat and being separated from the masses. Or maybe you already know how exhilarating it is to wake up to the pounding surf, neighing horses and the prospect of another beautiful day on the beach. It is the experience of a lifetime… make it even more special with a relaxing stay at Weathervane.

Great House! Great Vacation

Booking and check in process super simple and easy. House was clean and beautiful. No issues. We spent a lot of time on the beach, loved driving to the beach. Everything was so quiet and peaceful. Horses were in the backyard a few times which was super exciting. Would definitely stay again!

Magical place!

Our second stay in the Weathervane wonderful. The management was always quick to respond and go above and beyond for their guests. The house is well stocked and very comfortable. Our favorite spot was the screen porch where we played games and ate every meal while looking at the ocean and the horses in our yard. We absolutely love this house and the entire area. The horses and the beach make this a magical place. We will be back!

Wonderful 4x4 retreat

We had to cancel our early summer beach trip due to Covid. We were pleasantly surprised when the Weathervane popped up for an August vacation. This was our third visit to Carova and the Weathervane met all of our expectations. It was very close to the beach and the property was well maintained. The property manager was excellent and very quick with responses and requests. We highly recommend the Weathervane and look forward to future visits.

Great Location

This was our first time to stay on the 4x4 beach. The house is in a great location and was just perfect for what we needed. The house was clean and orderly. The A/C quit working on the second floor while we were there. We contacted the property manager and she scheduled the repair very quickly. Thank you for a great week!

My wife and I chose it to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary and could not have booked a more perfect location! 🙂 The wild horses stopped by almost everyday - an absolute treat to just watch them from both the second & third floor decks. The screened in porch off the living room is THE spot to watch the sunset. We were wowed by a different, awe inspiring sunset each evening. ⛅️ The owners are fantastic! They are very quick to reply and very friendly. The Weathervane has newer appliances, a very well appointed kitchen and fantastic water quality for the 4x4 area. We will 100% be back!

Excellent home, very clean and well equipped

This was our second stay in 4x4. This home had more tour traffic. Also, more ATV/UTV and someone had an old dune buggy that was loud. House located further up the beach than our previous stay, but meant less “crowded” beach. For those of you not use to a well there is an odor to the water and not a lot of pressure. Overall home was very nice and well stocked for stay. Side screened in porch was great with fans and breeze. We did see a group of 3 horses most nights and our final night they grazed in the side and backyard.

We had plenty of space for our family of four. The screened in porch was well used for our meals and horse-watching in the morning. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. The property manager was a life-saver. When we had an issue with our Jeep on the morning of check out, she came to the house and helped us. She also gave excellent directions on how to navigate driving on the beach. I would absolutely rent here again.

This was 6th trip to the 4x4 and one of the nicest, well kept homes we've stayed in. Perfect size for our family of four and our lab Sid. The screened porch was great in the evening or morning for coffee. Laura with Carova Cottages responded quickly to all inquiries prior to our stay. We had one small issue once we arrived where some wasps started to build a nest and she promptly brought over spray. She was going to spray but I wanted to do it at night while they were on the nest to make sure they would not come back. We can't wait to return!

We cooked most evenings and the kitchen had everything we needed. We saw horses around the house almost every day. Having a little one with us it was nice to be able to put everything we needed in the car and drive over to the beach. The only concern I had was having a little one and cars driving on the beach. I felt like i had to always be on gaurd but for the most part everyone seemed cautious as they drove. Overall it was a great vacation!!!this was our daughters first trip to the beach. She loved it so we will likely be back!
