"I have used this hotel many times. The extra fee for parking is just annoying. The food is generally ok but I was ill for three days following a caesar salad. One of the anchovies tasted rather funky, and oddly the waitress kept coming round looking worried and asking if my meal was ok. I found out a few hours later that it really wasn't!"

"He turned up and the room was a state. Not cleaned. McDonald’s takeaway all over the place and it smelt. Window open etc. Awful condition. "

"Affordably good quality accommodation with fabulous service. From the initial welcome to the time we departed and throughout the stay, we received the most professional, efficient, polite and friendly service from everyone of the hotel’s team we encountered, with special mention to the awesome Simon. The affordable rooms within this historic building are clean and functional; above all, they are very clean and comfortable with modern facilities like free-view television and reliable hotel Wi-Fi. The bed was comfy with crisp linen atop good duvet and pillows all of which aided a good nights sleep (some rooms might be noisy given the proximity to a reasonably busy road). The en-suite bathroom was also spotlessly clean with good water pressure to the shower and soft towels, complemented by some small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The free breakfast was adequate and welcome, with a basic hot and cold self service buffet selection The hotel is located on the edge of the town centre of Halifax just a ten-minute walk from the railway station and even less of an amble from the bus station, and the same distance to the Peace Hall, also very close to the town's retail and leisure attractions. A good value for money friendly hotel in a good location, I can highly recommend. The hotel has new owners and management."

"Staff were rude when checking in, the rooms hadn’t been cleaned. There were ants all over the desk in one room, and rubbish on the floor. I don’t know if they are also long leasing out rooms, but some other ‘tenants’ were noisy until around 1am running up and down corridors and shouting. "

"Just as described. Lovely location with hot tub, plus log fire and everything needed and on hand to use it, tea & coffee facilities and milk in the fridge. Just ensure you know the lodge number before arrival, as our booking confirmation didn’t say, so had to call/text and wait for response. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Perfect for a one-night stay occasion, as many have a 2-night minimum stay booking."

"The wardrobes were poor but apart from that everything was good. The bedroom onto the patio and hot tub can’t be accessed from the main house which means you have to go outside and downstairs to enter. Not a problem to us but should be noted. The ho tub was excellent and we all really enjoyed ourselves The only thing I didn’t like was that you can’t telephone anyone to confirm anything"

"Beautiful lodge and came fully equipped with everything we needed. Very clean and we loved the hot tub. Only slight negatives were that the beds came with single duvets which seemed a very odd choice and there wasn't enough hot water on 2 of the days for all 8 of us to have hot showers, 3 of us had very quick, very cold showers!"

"Room was 5 star. Amenities fantastic. Great hosts. Quiet, spacious. Abundance of Tea, coffee, water, shower gel etc. Best stay ever. Will definately visit again. "
