Charming home, great location. Walking distance to downtown area. Marina right across the street. Unfortunately, the docks were blocked off and we weren't able to acess the unobstructed views of the water for great pictures of the sunrises and ships passing by. House was clean, beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. Would definitely stay again.
The house was comfortable. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook your meals. The view of the St. Marys river was worth staying in De Tour Village. Had a wonderful time.
This property was a perfect for for our 3 generation adventure in the Eastern UP. The views from the covered porch were so good, and comfortable. The Unit was clean and well appointed. Our day trips were fun and easy with this home base to look forward to. Highly recommend this place and the relaxed vibe in this area.
The house worked perfectly for my group of six. The large kitchen was great for preparing meals, and having access to the garage was a bonus.
The close proximity to the marina and town was ideal.
Excellent communication with the property manager.
The house was clean and well stocked. Location couldn’t be better, only 2 blocks to the boat landing. Came to catch some Atlantic salmon and we succeeded. Gary was a great guy and very accommodating.
The house was amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, utensils, spices, anything we could ask for. The space was great for evening card games and afternoon porch sitting. The location was perfect and easy drive to local hikes and the ferry dock to Drummond Island.
Very quiet little town. Great front porch for watching the freighters and ferry to Drummond island. Big open kitchen with table for eating or games.Friendly hosts, took us to an area to see the Northern lights. the
Enjoyed staying in Gary’s house. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean and the eclectic furnishings were nice. We really enjoyed the porch! Just sitting there, watching the ferry go back and forth to Drummond Island and especially the big ships quietly passing by. The sunrise is especially beautiful. It was a relaxing visit.
Beautiful home with phenomenal view of St. Mary's River. Huge wrap-around porch to watch freighters gracefully gliding by. Home was very clean and spacious and had everything imaginable supply wise. Communication with owner was excellent. We look forward to coming back!
This property was just what are group needed for our "Drummond Island" weekend! It was within walking distance to grocery store, restaurants, and bars.
The porch was very comfortable and offered a spectacular view of Lake Huron.
It was also very well supplied with the necessities.
I would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again!
Very nice house across the street from the harbor. Great view of the passing freighters from the wrap around porch. Only a couple restaurants in town, so cooking meals in the kitchen was great. Very spacious with a big kitchen, dining room, living room plus the bedrooms and bathrooms. Owner was great to work with. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage in Detour Village. I never know what things to bring with us for a rental, but I needn’t have worried. The whole house is beautiful and well stocked with all the necessary items for a week’s stay. Aside from the actual food items, which we brought with us, the kitchen had a wonderful assortment of coffees and teas. There was a very nice stock of spices and oils. Of course there was every kind of pot and pan needed for cooking.
The bathroom was well stocked with the usual necessities and even a first aid kit.
To top all this off, the view from the front porch is amazing! We love watching the freighters go up and down the St. Mary’s River to and from the Soo Locks.
All in all, it was a wonderful, relaxing stay - and we would do it again!
We loved staying in this house. We spent a lot of time on the front porch, watching the freighters and ferries on the river. Great location in the village, we could walk to restaurants, Pickleball courts or down to the marina. The dining room is also a very nice feature with lots of windows so you can watch the boats while you’re eating if it’s too cold to eat outside. Lots of activities nearby, including hiking and fishing, as well as visiting Drummond Island and nearby towns like Cedarville.
The kitchen was well equipped and thoughtfully stocked with herbs and spices as well as pots, spans and small appliances. We had a very comfortable bed in the master bedroom on the first floor. Both bedrooms on the first floor, had ceiling fans, but the upstairs Bedrooms did not have ceiling fans and they got stuffy even with daytime highs in the mid 70s.
It would be nice if there was a bathroom upstairs so people don’t have to come downstairs during the night. Some of us use the bathroom in the basement for showers.
This was a beautiful old home that sets in a picturesque location in a wonderful village in the Upper Peninsula. The beds were comfortable & nice linens. The house has a fantastic view. But the maintenance issues left us feeling cheated on this rental. The front porch was in desperate need of cleaning, upkeep and repair. Even the furniture was old, worn out, & too dirty to sit on let alone eat your lunch. Several porch boards need to be replaced and the gas grill "grill area"was all rusted out, we weren't sure it would even hold the steaks to cook them. Inside the home there were cob webs on the insides of all the windows esp. in the dining room which had the best view to watch the freighters come thru and the dining room chairs are taped up from rips in the upholstery. The beautiful living room looked inviting until you set on the couch with bad springs and more ripped upholstery. The kitchen is nice and updated but needs a deep clean. I don't think they have mopped the floors in years. Oven is filthy and the cupboard shelves for the dishes are greasy. Also I wondered why all of the windows were left open a few inches throughout the home and its due to the musty smell that comes up from the basement. So when it got cooler at night(we stayed Labor Day weekend) and had to close the windows that musty smell became much more prevalent. All in all its the maintence issues that ruined the stay. Even after we spent the first hour cleaning, it barely made a dent.
