"The Marlborough is a pub with tasty food and about five rooms for overnight stays. The staff is outstanding and does everything possible to be helpful. It is on a central street of a very small town, so it can be a bit noisy during the day and early evening, but is quiet at night. The rooms have nice versions of all the basics, including a good bed and excellent shower. There are few extra amenities beyond the room and pub, although the breakfast was very good. "This was a wonderful experience, very friendly staff who were always ready to help, offering glasses of chilled water in the spacious and well-furnished public rooms and alcohol in the evenings. We stayed in the large Shakespeare room, often used as a Bridal Suite. The spa is great, with a good sized pool, a jacuzzi and unusual sauna.
Really good breakfasts served in bedrooms and at the nearby sister-hotel Milsoms. The fine dining at the main restaurant on the nearby River Stour was sublime,...
"What a great place to stay in you need a bed for the night. Everything is handed by phone and text. Parking at the rear of the property, nice clean room and we'll sorted en suite. The design of my room made it a bit of a squeeze getting around the double bed. Good amenities including a drinks fridge with complimentary water and juice included as well as tea and coffee making facilities and a small oven, ironing board and cooling tower fan.
