"Informed main desk that the room was stale and bathroom sink smelt of drains - not sure anything was done. On last day, our room wasn’t cleaned and had to get fresh towels - prompt response. The drinks machines in breakfast area are not good. Multiple selection of drinks contaminates other drinks. Tea tasted of chocolate! Never used again. Breakfast selection good, but our daughter (coeliac) had little choice and avoided food Staff helpful and very good, but noticed some stress from demand by other people (when serving at the bar was not quick enough)"

"Hotel design is modern, clean and central to York´s attractions. I stayed for 4 nights, the standard rooms are well equipped, great design, and comfortable. It would´ve been nice to have an alternative to coconut biscuits, a variety of teas and a hot chocolate provided. The housekeeping was different standard everyday, one day the bed wasn’t made or the tea cups cleaned, other days it was very good. I ordered a different cooked breakfast every morning, and honestly wouldn’t want any of them twice. The smoked salmon and ´creamy´ scrambled eggs was a wafer thin slice of salmon with very watery eggs, the Eggs California had puréed grey avocado on a soggy muffin, the soft boiled eggs and soldiers were ok, and on the final day I ordered porridge with berries and honey…the porridge arrived minus the berries and had to ask for them again. When they came it was just 4 raspberries in a pot, and by that time the porridge was cold. The breakfast staff were inconsistent in service. Nearer 10am the staff are clearing tables very loudly and banging and crashing plates and cutlery on the trollies. On one day, a member of staff hovered near our table, wished us a friendly ´have a nice day´ when we got up to leave but then pounced to clear away our table. Service finishes at 10am but that doesn't mean hotel guests have to leave promptly at that time. Sadly the spa was closed for refurbishment so it wasn’t possible to take advantage of the hotel´s usual amenities. "

We were a party of 4 and decided to have a nightcap one evening and drank for 1 hour. The bill was beyond belief. Be warned These prices resemble those in Dubai. "
