"A historic building in a central position in Frome, clearly an old coaching inn or similar. The bedrooms sit within a maze of staircases and corridors. Some stairs are best suited to young mountain goats. My room was on the top floor, up a narrow, steep stair with a tricky turn. My stick and I managed it, just, and staff brought up and took down my case. I expected an attic-type room, but it was spacious, with high ceilings, nicely laid out and with a clean, well-maintained bathroom - full complement of shower anti-slip mat, fluffy towels, and bath mat. The window to the front was open and Friday night in Frome is 'lively.' I asked for it to be closed for following nights. Breakfast was served in the bar. A fair choice of cereals, fruit juices, croissants, tea/coffee and a cooked breakfast menu to choose from, delivered plentiful and hot. The cooked element can be slow in coming if the room is full and any items in addition to the set menu, e.g. a second slice of toast, will be charged separately. Overall, fair price, charming venue, quirky accommodation, clean and warm...recommended, but not wholly accessible."

"We just had the room on a room only basis as the breakfast was quite expensive. The hotel is very central to the lovely city of Wells and so we had a pleasant walk around the cathedral and enjoyed a visit to a local cafe of which there are many. There was plenty of free parking which is always a bonus when you are staying so central as this was. The room was pleasant but had a four poster bed which we hadn't booked and weren't expecting which was fine for me but as my wife is quite short, she had to take a running jump to get on it as it was so high. Bed was comfortable but not the most comfortable I've ever stayed in."

"Clean, modern rooms, pleasant staff and good all round breakfast, although not right in the City centre which I prefer not to be anyway, only a 10 mins slow walk and you are in the City, One big negative though, having stayed in both Holiday Inns and Expresses many times, having to pay for parking, I appreciate the hotel prices being higher for Bath compared to other places but to charge for parking as well is going to put visitors and guests off staying at the Holiday Inn, myself included."

"Fantastic rooms and bathrooms, SPA excellent, Cancelled our breakfast as food quality, preparation and wine offering at previous evenings dinner was very disappointing for a hotel with accommodation at the higher end of hotels price ranges. However waiting staff were excellent."
