Cool property if youre in town for hunting and fishing. Floors were dirty and the sun comes into every room at 530 AM. Other than those two complaints, tbe place is hreat and in a wonderul location for the fort and Dover.
Once a year we have our kids and grandkid meet in the winter in Dover, TN. Our oldest child lives there. It is a great opportunity to have all the cousins spend time together as they live far apart. This place serves our needs well.

Old Carriage House
Interesting history, we were told by locals that this is the old carriage house built as part of a plantation. The nearby plantation house burned down, but the modified carriage house was fine. Downstairs has very low ceilings, upstairs has 2 bedrooms and a living room with a bed in it. It all needs a really good dusting.
No response from host when we needed to reschedule
I emailed the contact given to us to try to reschedule our stay as a job had canceled and the did not respond and charged full price for the stay. I paid extra for the insurance in the event the trip fell through.
While convenient to downtown, we were disappointed to arrive to an unclean property. There were muddy tracks inside, dead bugs on the floor, and cobwebs on all the downstairs furniture, in addition to WiFi that did not work. I texted and called the owner contact as well as the management company, but did not get any responses.

Okay
As other reviews stated the room layouts were a bit weird. It’s not a great place if you have multiple groups wanting private rooms. Also, the pictures make it appear that the place is located away from other people, but this location was within a rental/condo/apartment complex area and had a fairly high amount of traffic in the area. Finally, what looked like a back yard was actually a cow pasture. The cows come literally right up to the back porch. The kids enjoyed it, but without walking or driving about a mile on the roads there was no direct river access without hopping the fence and walking through the pasture which really isn’t worth it because at that point you’ve basically walked to the Dover ramp/public river access area.
Enjoyed our stay here, absolutely perfect for our group of 5 hunters. Plenty of parking space for trucks and boat trailers etc. House was very clean and had everything we needed. Beds were super comfortable as well. We will be staying here again.
It was a beautiful house with everything we needed! The only drawback were the floors were not clean. There was dust under the beds and our feet were black after walking barefoot. The towels and beds were very nice. The decor was lovely. The location was gorgeous.
Very clean, cute house. I have not had a more accommodating vrbo, they had everything there we needed. It was truly a great stay and I would definitely book again.
This is an older house on the end of the road so it is very quiet. The bedroom arrangement was a bit odd but we made it work. We had a nice time and it was a very enjoyable stay.
So six of us stayed in the house for three nights and it was so roomy. I hunt lbl and fish Kentucky lake from time to time it was a great place to hunt from.
Ad states that you can walk down to river and we found no way to get there and that was a tad disappointing; however, the place is nice and cozy and we enjoyed the cottage!!
Clean, relaxing and worth every penny...we needed a place to decompress and 165 Plantation delivered. The history “drive through” tour (at your own pace) was fascinating, gorgeous views.
Thank you

If you are looking for a quiet getaway then this is the place. Land between the Lakes and the National Battlefield park are literally at your doorstep. Looking for a COVID-19 respite, we saw more cows and bison than people this past weekend! And we shopped everyday for menu needs at the PigglyWiggly.
It was heaven on earth to us.
And the accommodations, the house itself, and the site managers were awesome. Especially loved the grill they provided (but bring your own utensils).
Can’t recommend it highly enough. It was perfect.
This is a quaint "cottage" off to itself in a subdivision in a quiet neighborhood. The layout ia a bit unusual as far as the sleeping rooms. If privacy is your thing then I would look elsewhere, the master bedroom has multiple windows and sheers only, the adjacent bedroom is separated by french glass doors with sheers and the other upstairs bed is in the den. The upstairs bath is shared with 2 entrances. However, we made it work and everyone slept comfortably. The downstairs bedroom is single bunks and the 1/2 bath is through the LR and kitchen. There is a pool table in the garage. The LR was a good place to sit and interact, and there is a deck in the back and a porch in the front to sit outside. There are cows in the pasture between the house and the river. Overall a good place for a family to meet and be together. Also a good location for Land between the Lakes activities, although the northern area is a bit of a drive from there.
Dover has very few eating choices, we ate at Dover Grille 2 nights just for convenience and the food was amazingly good and fresh. We had Hillbillie's BBQ which was great and Mama Mea's which was OK.
My only complaint was that the TV did not work, Direct TV would not connect and could not get Netflix either. I tried calling and emailing the property manager, got nothing but crickets. I am just glad we did not have a major issue because we had no one to contact! We did have wi-fi though.
In general we had a good time and I would recommend this property to anyone interested in visiting this area.
The home was lovely and had everything we needed. The property manager even delivered a new grill and grilling tools on a 2 hour notice--even when the listing didn't specify a grill! We loved Dover and the home's setting next to the river and battlefield was beautiful .
The Cumberland Cottage is in a picturesque setting on the Cumberland River in Dover. Decor and amnesties are well done.
Sadly, the upstairs air conditioning was out when we arrived at 4pm on July 4th. All of the sleeping (except 1 set of twin bunks) and the only full bathroom is located upstairs. At 87 degrees, the heat was not tolerable for sleeping. For the next 4 hours, we attempted to contact the property manager via phone, text, and email with no response. Eventually, we called the Evolve network and got some help. The owner of the property called and was very kind, but was unable to get anyone out to fix the AC at such at late hour on July 4th. So, we went to a hotel for the night.
Repairmen fixed the AC the following morning, and it was fine for the rest of our stay.
The issue is this: the Evolve representative requested that our 1st night be reimbursed on 7/4. When I called to confirm the reimbursement on 7/8, I was told that we had to wait for owner approval, and that I should expect communication or call back on 7/10.
The amount of wait time is not reasonable, considering that the owner was completely aware of the situation the night it occurred. Additionally, the money was withdrawn from my account for the reservation on the day it was made, yet I am expected to wait for hundreds of dollars to be reimbursed, on top of having to drive 45 minutes and pay for a hotel for a night out of my pocket when the owner is unable to remedy the situation.
I do NOT consider this good customer service. I will gladly update this review if the situation is remedied in a fair and timely manner.
