COTTAGE BY THE SEA - steps from Beach -chef included - THE YELLOW CANARY

Location:
The Yellow Canary is a few steps to white sandy beach. It is located half way between MontegoBay and Ocho Rios, off the North coast.
The cottage is spacious light and airy with a modern decor. The living room opens out onto a patio area and the front garden.
The cottage comes with our gourmet cook/housekeepers, Cassie and Tiffany
Kirt our experienced driver does the airport run and excursions, (driver’s cost is not included in the price and the driver accepts cash only).

We welcome you to Yellow by the sea, a place to relax and chill. A few steps away is our beautiful white sandy beach. There is a green lawn that stretches along the beach that is lined with almond trees which is great for shades and the area is flushed with trees and shrubs. This area can be very quiet and peaceful on weekdays but can get busy at weekends with visiting guests and local families.

At Yellow Canary our chef will cook delicious foods daily to your specification from fresh local foods and vegetables. Fish, lobster, (the catch of the day) can be delivered to our door by our local fishermen.
Sunday meals: No meals are cooked on a Sunday, only for arriving guests or on special requests.

The cook’s services are included in the price but guests are responsible for the cost of groceries.

THE villa comes with Air con, Wifi, TV - Netflix and YouTube.
There are areas to Lounge on in various parts of the garden and the sound of the sea can be heard from every angle of the property which will help you to unwind. Yellow Canary is a place to relax, sleep, read, eat and generate with great foods.

The Yellow Canary Villa was in excellent condition. It is roomy, clean, and has all the conveniencies of home. Along with the assumed electricity and hot water, it has TV and Internet. Then there is an incredible hostess, Cassie. Cassie is an incredible cook, as well as friendly and informative. You couldn't ask for a better host. The villa is just steps from the ocean. Visit Julets. Great chicken, fish as well as drinks. It is quit and comfortable for a wonderful break in a warm and beautiful environment.

The beach is about a one minute walk from the house down a short road. Its not "beachfront" as there are 2 houses between you and the beach but its very close. The property is gated and I never once felt unsafe. The place also comes with a chef - Cassie - who is a wonderful cook. How it worked for us is we drove to the supermarket and Cassie asked what we wanted to eat and bought supplies (at our cost of course) for what she would prepare. She would typically cook 2 meals per day.The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the house wasn't super clean. Our room had a pretty big dead cockroach in it and lots of mosquitos were in the house. Its a tropical environment so I expect there to be bugs but it made it hard to enjoy being in the house.Overall had a great time and if you come during the dry season (Dec-Apr) I'm guessing the bug issue won't be a problem.

Steps away from a BEAUTIFUL Quiet beach. Staff was kind and helpful. Would stay againA few things to note and would increase enjoyment would be: 1. If communication was a little better on what you need to bring since place is fairly remote. Like you need to bring cash to pay the cook for groceries, taximan, snacks, etc. 2. Also I think if there was a menu and choices to choose from for chef that would help. Because we had to plan our own menu, but then some items aren't available in Jamaica, and cook was unfamiliar with how to cook. Probably easier if you could just choose meals.3. Finally, just know that there is no a/c in living room and it is a hot place, but there's not much they can do about that.

A beautiful and restful stay

Beautiful property in a quiet location barely a two minute walk to the beach. Our host Cassie, was helpful and friendly, the beach was private, pristine with powdery sand. We felt incredibly lucky to be there and would love to return.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and gave me a great sense of freedom! Mrs. Cassie, the housekeeper is so nice and respectful of our space and wow is she an amazing cook! We had a delicious chicken meal when we arrived and it was plenty for leftovers which we enjoyed throughout our stay. The place is immaculately clean and the local people are a treat to be around if you get to know them! No complaints.

Relaxing and quiet place.

Excellent location to relax! We spent our days reading our books and lounging at the villa or at the beach. Villa was clean, well kept, and very charming. Miss Cassie is an amazing cook and has a beautiful personality. The whole family loved all her meals which were excellent and first class and we also enjoyed our grocery shopping trip! :) Host communications were great with no issues whatsoever. Would return in a heartbeat.

Relaxation in Paradise!

The villa is exactly as the picture shows. The surrounding in peaceful, tranquil and the sound of the waves braking at the beach is magical!Cassie and Tiffany are amazing, warm and accommodating! They aim to please, answers when you call and give you space to enjoy the property. The meals are delicious! You will ask for more. This visit will long be remembered.Mr. Monroe was equally attentive, warm and accommodating and received us promptly upon arrival. This was 10 out of 10!January 2025

Bday trip

The property was exactly as described. Cassie met us as we arrived with a delicious welcome dinner. Both Cassie and Tiffany were very helpful throughout the stay. We enjoyed being very close to the beach. The driver from the airport took us to the wrong supermarket. I highly recommend going to Progressive supermarket in Montego Bay. They’re were a few days where there was no hot water but this was rectified. And the mosquitoes were vicious. Overall our stay was pleasant. Cassie is an amazing chef.

Very Sweet Place

We had an interesting start to our journey- we traveled in during a tropical storm and arrived just ahead of a bank holiday. Despite this, we were able to settle in nicely and begin to enjoy the surround. The drive Monroe is easily accessible and lovely. Both of the ladies who tended to us during our stay were incredibly nice and did a wonderful job. They truly enhanced our experience. The only thing I would emphasize is that the living area and kitchen can get quite warm, and you may want to bring your own beach towels and extra hand towels if you run out. Outside of those recommendations I could not add more- except, to say it is lovely and the locals are great.

Slice of Heaven

I’m not even sure where to start!! From the time Mr. Munroe picked us up at the airport until he dropped us off at the end of our vacation we had an amazing time! Mr. Munroe is a true gentleman and will take you wherever you want to go. Not once were we bored, so close to the beach, the lagoon is fun to explore in. Beautiful turquoise water.So picturesque !! The locals are so friendly. Just footsteps away on the beach there are 2 small bars, a restaurant and fresh coconuts ! I suggest finding local Dougie Fresh at the beach and have him take you to the Cave, very cool experience. And the best for last, Cassie !!! Cassie is an absolute sweetheart and the heart of the house! She made us feel like royalty , always tending to our needs. Her cooking is out of this world! Highly recommend her lobster curry. We are definitely coming back again next year!!

Tranquility

The listing, including the pics, are accurate. My party of 5 adults enjoyed the quiet beautiful beach and clear water that was only a few steps away. Accommodations inside and outside were very comfortable. Cassie was a wonderful cook/housekeeper who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. A perfect place for those who want security, beauty, peacefulness, and comfort. Veronica was prompt with communication and made very helpful instructions to neighborhood resturant owners.

home sweet home

It's my third time at Yellow Canary so I can say we love this place and we will come again and again. Veronica the owner and Cassy the helper are really wonderfull people. I can say Cassy is a really good chef cuz I don't like seafood but her curry lobster was delicious ;) The villa is really cosy and nice and the garden is beautifull! The area is quiet and all people are really friendly. One of the best beach of Jamaica is one min walk from the villa. Bars and good restaurants 3 min walk. Veronica, thanks for sharing this villa with people and see you soon :)

This is REAL Jamaica-as long as you know that going in, you will absolutely love it here!

The good: the property owner is very helpful & arranged on-time airport pickup + a stop at the market on the way to the villa. She even gave us phone nos. for the driver & housekeeper/chef so we could reach out directly. When the air wasn’t working in one bedroom, she tried to get it fixed ASAP. The drivers are timely, courteous & able to take us anywhere we wanted to go-any day or time. The beach is literally only 100 yards away-and it’s spectacular. The bad: you’re in the tropics-there WILL be biting insects galore. DEET is your friend. Bring LOTS of sunscreen & bug spray!!! The so-so: wear water shoes! Urchin colonies abound in the shallow rocks! There isn’t much to do at the Villa besides the beach, so you need a driver to do anything else (even dining out). Expect to spend $80-100 US just for driver service each day you use it plus any excursion costs. Groceries are pricey-ie: a case of water is about $9 & produce isn’t as large & fresh as we see in the States. Air conditioning is only in the bedrooms. Clothes must line dry-plan accordingly. We never saw the advertised hot tub, but didn’t miss it. The best: Ms. Cassie. She’s part housekeeper, part world-class chef, part concierge & 100% instant family friend. She made the stay amazing! Hands-down the best meals we ate were made by Ms. Cassie. We miss her already! If you want a “resort” vacay, it’s not for you. But def book this Villa if you want to experience real beauty of Jamaica!

Better than advertised!

The Yellow Canary Villa was an amazing getaway for our family! The proximity to the gorgeous beach was so incredibly close it was hardly believable. Clear water and soft sand made up one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever enjoyed, certainly the best we visited in Jamacia, and it was hardly ever occupied . The villa was well appointed, and Tamara was an amazing chef! Our picky eater found a new favorite dish with her Brown Chicken Stew – it was sooo delicious! She was incredibly helpful and was always ready to give advice or assist with anything at the villa.

A cool place to stay!

A wonderful villa, just steps from the beach. Tamara and Jasmine are excellent hosts and fantastic cooks. They gave us authentic Jamaican dishes every day. Eating locally is expensive, especially if you want fish, but do try Julet’s fried chicken. The beach is long and thin with fine white sands and warm blue sea but be careful on the rocks and reefs. To get the most from the area be prepared to chat and join in with local life and experience the laid-back Jamaican hospitality.

Great place to avoid the touristic crowds

We very much enjoyed the location being between Montevideo Bay and Ocho Rios. It was nice and quiet and Tamara was a great cook

Beautiful & quiet getaway with great food!

Staying at this villa was a great experience. It was airy, quiet and beautiful; a nice break from the touristy areas (this was our second time in Jamaica). Veronica was responsive and helpful with finding the villa. We rented a car and the GPS wasn't very clear with finding the right location, but once we arrived we knew we were in paradise! Most importantly, what made our stay at the Yellow Canary Villa amazing and what drove our high review is because of Tamara. We don't normally take the time to write a lengthy review, but Tamara's excellent customer service is hard to find and she deserves the utmost credit! She was extremely nice, respectful, trustworthy, thoughtful, and made the most wonderful food. There weren't a lot of places nearby to eat, but we were glad as we got to experience more of Tamara's wonderful cooking! Overall, we highly recommend staying at this villa and requesting to have Tamara. We will definitely be staying here again and telling our friends & family about the Yellow Canary Villa and Tamara!
