"The location was very good. The double room booked was very small with a smaller than average double bed. Most disappointing was the very stained and dirty looking carpet. The bedding and towels were good quality and the new bathroom was nice with a good hot shower. The carpet spoiled the whole experience for me"

"My visit to the Belmont was perfect. It is the first time in many years that a venue has exceeded my expectations and some. From the dedicated parking space, through Reception to our room left no doubt that we were expected and welcomed. Every member of the team we met were professional, cheerful and interested in our wellbeing. The dining room staff and the food were first class with the experience enhanced at dinner by the inclusion of a pianist at a grand piano! The hotel’s position and amenities are second to none and, though the weather during our visit left much to be desired that didn’t detract from our enjoyment. I have no doubt I will be returning to the Belmont in the future."

"Room cleaned daily, box of tissues not replaced, no spare toilet roll left, staff helpful. Breakfast order taken and waited until 5 other guests were served approximately 25 minutes before asking if we’d been forgotten. Poached eggs were perfect on Saturday, Sunday but requested new eggs on Monday as too snotty and undercooked for my taste. Husband loved the mushrooms. Parking available. Gardens are a treat. The hotel I feel would be somewhere I’d like to return to but because of the squeaky floor boards and very thin walls, sleeping was disturbed by this and a guest not being able to find his room and also an alarm which another guest had to remove the battery from to stop it as no member of staff or security were on site. A little worrying to say the least."

"Perfectly situated, prettty cottage with parking. Spotlessly clean and well equipped with lovely touches from the host. Very responsive and helpful to messages. Lots to do in Sidmouth and our adult children had a great time too. Hope to be back"
