Lumley Castle Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing couple of nights at Lumley Castle. The room was beautiful ' a courtyard feature room with 4 poster bed & lots of space. We were surprised how warm the room was & the bathroom had a lovely powerful shower over the bath. The whole castle was well maintained with plenty of walks around the grounds. We especially enjoyed our evening meal in the Knights restaurant where the food was excellent & the staff friendly & efficient. We would have liked a seating area with a roaring fire to sit & relax without being in the crowded bar area & it was quite difficult eating at the low tables in the library bar on our first evening All in all we highly recommend a stay in this beautiful & quirky castle."

"Room and hotel dated but clean. Pillows (one each) extremely hard and uncomfortable. Mattress hard but ok. Didn't get round to using pool or spa facilities, which do cost extra. Staff friendly and helpful. Booked room only so can't comment on breakfast, but evening meal was very tasty and good portions. Staff very knowledgeable about allergens. Overall cheap, cheerful and would stay again."

"Great hotel and helpful staff. Had an issue with the sink in our room when checked in (as it would not drain away). Reported to reception and it was quickly fixed. No other issues - great location, clean rooms and decent wifi - good base for seeing the city."

"We got upgraded to the new wing into a Jr suit, cool right? Except it was up 48 steps with no elevator access. Sure wish we would have been warned about this. No porters, so we schlepped our suitcases up three flights of stairs."

"Visited on a weekend and there were so many different functions going on that it was too busy and noisy. Really not worth the money. Also room was cold and musty and there was mould on the back of curtains"
