"The King's Little Pathway" spans the El Chorro gorge at a height of 100m. It was built in the early 1900s as an access path between nearby hydroelectric plants. The bridge got it's name in 1921 when King Alfonso XIII crossed it to help inaugurate a new dam.

The path rises to the bridge from either side of the gorge, snaking dramatically along the sheer cliff face. In recent years the path has been closed to all but rock-climbers, as many portions of the pathway had crumbled away.

However, the Spanish government recently completed a three-year restoration of the pathway, including guardrails, and it just opened yesterday - March 28, 2015! The 6€ entrance fee will be waived for the first six months, but you'll need to make reservations in advance: http://bit.ly/1BzhH8Y. Also, bear in mind that the path is one-way, so check the return bus schedule, or book a return crossing as well!

"Lovely villa, exactly what we were looking for. You do need a car if staying here as it is up a track but worth the trip and only 20/25 mins to centre of Malaga. Could have been done with a welcome manual explaining how some things worked and where to take the rubbish etc. we didn’t see anyone as we checked in late so perhaps that would have been shown had we been earlier. Our host replied very quickly to any messages when we were there. "

"Loved this house and setting! Quite a trek to get there but worth it once you see the views. Only negatives were that it was COLD and windy in Feb and the heating is really dependent on one wood stove in the LR. Also electric heaters in bedrooms to take chill off in pm and am. Landlady was very responsive and helped a lot with suggestions for local restaurants and sights. Lots of dogs barking (a la France!) otherwise very quiet and peaceful. "

"We absolutely loved our 2 weeks at Casa El Trigal. The house is really well appointed with everything you'd need and the outside space is wonderful. Good sized pool with sun loungers to make the most of the stunning views. Easy 5 minute drive to the local village which has a good mini supermarket, and well located for trips to Malaga, the coast, the lakes, Ronda and El Torcal. "The property is in a good location, set within olive orchards. You can easily walk to Alora which has everything you need from Supermarkets to restaurants. The walk to town is paved and safe to be done even in the dark. We came during the October rains and it was quite cold outside, so we only used the outside kitchen and barbecue once. The pool area is great, it was a shame we couldn't use it more. The views are breath-taking with wonderful sunsets. Also the basketball play area was popular...

The villa exceeded our expectations — it included all the listed amenities and even some pleasant surprises, like a TV in every room and a karaoke set in the living room. Everything was spotless, and the pool was regularly cleaned every 3 to 4 days.The owners were incredibly kind and helpful, offering us plenty of great tips for exploring the Malaga area.
