I reached out to expedia customer service for help and the host company emailed me back only a day after the check in time asking if I still would like to check in or cancel the booking. They said they contacted me at the day of check in. Most likely they tried to call me on my phone, but never went through...

"We had wonderful three weeks in Piombino. The house was very clean, fully equipped with everything we needed and very tastefully furnished. The garden and the pool are a great place to spend time. The pizza oven and the kitchen in the pool house are additional highlight that made our stay even more comfortable. Thanks to Serena and Alessandro for always being accessible and responsive!"

"Wir hatten eine Ferienwohnung in schöner Umgebung mit ausdrücklich 2 getrennten Schlafzimmer gesucht. Diese wurden uns auch schriftlich bestätigt. Die Anfahrtsstrasse stellte sich bei Regen mit dem Motorrad als sehr schlecht da. Wir hatten keine Information zum Empfang, es war niemand vor Ort. Mit Hilfe meines italienischem Cousine konnte die Wohnung gefunden werden, aber es gab nur 1 Schlafzimmer! Wir haben über den Veranstalter storniert, was uns auch unkompliziert nach vorlage von Beweisen...
